The Super Simple Play Pals are extremely easy

to assemble. Use the line full size Plan View line

drawings on page 9 for placement of trailer bed and

hitch. The axles are inserted into the vehicle bodies

and then the wheels are glued to the ends of the

axles. The axles are not glued to the bodies and are

designed to rotate freely within the axle holes.

Painted toys are MDF (medium density fiberboard) or fine grained hardwoods to make a smooth base for a glossy surface. Finish is

spray can color glosses over white primer. First apply 3 coats of primer sanding each coat with 220 sandpaper when dry. Then apply

3 coats of gloss paint sanding each coat with 400 sandpaper when dry. Apply final coat of gloss clear. Do not sand final coat. Note: All

Rust-Oleum and Krylon paints and finishes are non-toxic when dry.

Baking the wood creates a safe but noticeable odor. As an alternative to baking the wood in your kitchen oven on a porch or deck. Used toaster ovens are available on Craigslist.org.

Step1: Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200

degrees Celcius.

Step 2: Place the parts to be tinted on a cookie sheet and place it

in the oven. The dark tone requires one hour in the oven. The light tone requires 1/2 hour in the oven. For darker tones increase the oven time. For lighter tones decrease the oven time.

Step 3: Remove tinted parts from oven and let cool until warm to

the touch.

Step 4: Apply Cynthia’s Paste Wax Finish. The home-made formula

and How-To Video is on our website at www.toymakingplans.com.

Obtain tints from light to dark

on any wood without staining.
