Welcome

Thank you and congratulations on making the smart decision to optimize your PC with Advanced SystemCare V8.

Advanced SystemCare V8 is a powerful yet easy-to-use and award-winning system optimization tool, the choice of millions of users. It fixes stubborn errors, cleans out clutter, optimizes Internet speed, ensures personal security, and maintains maximum computer performance automatically by its always-on, automated and all-in-one PC Healthcare Service.

This guide will help you get familiar with Advanced SystemCare V8 rapidly.

New Install

Note: To ensure Advanced SystemCare all functionality can work OK, you should install it under Administrator or account with administrative rights.

3) Read the License Agreement for Advanced SystemCare V8, and then click Accept button to continue the installation if you agree with the terms.

4) You can click Browse… to select the destination location for Advanced SystemCare V8. By default, it will be installed to the following location:

- C:\Program Files\IObit\ (for 32-bit computer) - C:\Program Files (x86)\IObit\ (for 64-bit computer)

6) At the first installation, you will be presented with the new features and functions of this program.

Over the Top Install

1) Close and exit the running version on your computer. If the Advanced SystemCare icon is in the system tray, right click on it and select Exit to exit program from the system tray.

2) Double click the setup file. This will launch the Advanced SystemCare Setup Wizard to guide you through the setup process.

Note: With over the top install, you cannot change the installation location for Advanced SystemCare V8. If you would like to install it to another destination, please follow the Clean Install steps introduced next.

Clean Install

1) Close and exit the current version that is running on your computer. If the Advanced SystemCare icon is in system tray, right click on it and select Exit to exit program from the system tray.

Update

Advanced SystemCare Updater can help you check and download updates of Advanced SystemCare or update Advanced SystemCare to its latest version. To install updates, you do not need to uninstall the current version.

Here are three methods to check for updates:

Method 1: Load Advanced SystemCare, click More Settings icon on the top right, and then select Check for updates.

Method 2: Right click on the Advanced SystemCare icon in System Tray and select Check for updates.

Method 3: If you have Pro edition, you will be able to set Advanced SystemCare to check for updates automatically.

Here are the instructions to set AutoUpdate:

Load Advanced SystemCare -> click More Settings icon on the top right -> select Settings -> click AutoUpdate under Automatic Service -> tick Update automatically -> click Apply and OK button

Advanced SystemCare Free

Like: Click this icon to share Advanced SystemCare V8 with your friends via Facebook. Quick Settings: Click this icon to open the Quick Settings window.

PC Health: Move your cursor over the expression icon to view a summarized performance report of your PC. Performance status (Good /Fair /Bad ). Click on the text PC Health or the expression icon to view the summary of what Advanced SystemCare V8 has done to optimize your PC.

Latest News: Displayed at the bottom left with the latest news, new program updates, or program promotions from IObit.

Activate Now: Click Activate Now button to open the registration window. Enter your license code to register the Pro edition by clicking Enter License button or purchase a new license code online by clicking Activate Now button. After upgrading to Pro edition, you can see Manage License link at the same position. You can click this link to view/export/refresh your license. Rescue Registry: Here lists the changes made by Registry Fix and System Optimization. You can view the change details by clicking View Details button and rescue the changes by clicking the Undo Changes button.

Rescue Internet Boost: Here lists the changes made by Internet Boost. It helps you rescue all the changes made by Internet Boost.

Rescue Registry Defrag: Here lists the changes made by Registry Defragment. It helps you rescue all the changes made by Registry Defrag.

System Restore: Here you can view/remove the existing system restore points or create a new one.

Context Menu

Right click on the icon of Advanced SystemCare V8 in system tray to find more context menu options.

Open Advanced SystemCare – This will open Advanced SystemCare V8’s main interface.

Open Performance Monitor – This will open Performance Monitor window. Here are two kinds of windows for PM. To maximize it, please click icon . To minimize it, please click icon .

Protect – This will open Protect Screen and you can manage the protections.

Toolbox – This will open Toolbox screen and then you can find and use the tools you want.

Turn on Turbo Boost – If you already configured your own Turbo Boost, clicking on it will turn on Turbo Boost directly. Otherwise, it will open the Turbo Boost window to let you configure the Turbo Boost when you first use it.

Check for updates – This will help you update to the latest version of Advanced SystemCare V8 manually.

Quick Settings – This will open Quick Settings window. Exit – This will exit your running Advanced SystemCare V8.

In Pro version, you can click Activate all functions text link at the bottom left to turn on all features.

Settings

To be a master of Advanced SystemCare V8 and make it work as what you tell, you have to configure the Settings for Advanced SystemCare V8 according to your own needs and habits.

Real-time Protector

It protects your computer against adware and other malware in real-time. It is light by working in the background without affecting your work. Just enable it and it will notify you automatically once any threats detected. It is only available in Pro version.

Browser Anti-Tracking

If it is enabled, it will clean privacy traces (the objects you selected to clean under each browser) automatically once your browser closed. Thus it protects you from being tracked and makes your browser always clean.

Spyware Removal

Here you can define the specific settings for Spyware Removal feature under Care. By dragging the slider, you can change size of the files that will be skipped during the scan.

You can also change the scan priority by dragging the slider. High Priority means that the CPU and Memory should mainly serve this scan even when you have other works to do.

By ticking Remove threats to Recycle Bin, you can get back the removed files or folders if false positive happens.

Enable Full Detection: It helps you detect and remove the deepest infections, and protects your PC against various potential threats. But it will take you more time to finish the scan and repair once enabled.

Privacy Sweep

By default, only history older than one week will be deleted for all browsers while Delete browser history older than 1 week (Only supports IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera Next) is ticked. Otherwise, all history will be deleted. But if you want to keep your surfing history so that you can access them easily, you can change the settings here. Please go through all the settings includes browsers, Office Application, Internet, Multimedia, Windows, and Utilities in Privacy Sweep and make them suitable for you.

Junk Files Clean

Please go through all the items listed here to check whether you want to keep them or delete them. Some items may be unfamiliar to you. We will give warnings regarding the result after you delete them so that you can make the correct decision.

System Optimization

This feature can optimize your computer and network to be more suitable for your different purposes. It is only available in Pro version. Free users can only use the Basic optimization.

Vulnerability Fix

Vulnerabilities or so called security holes are serious security threats to your computer. Fixing them is very important. Here you can decide whether to back up the security holes patches and define the backup path.

By deleting the hot patches in Ignored hot patches, those security holes will be scanned out again in Vulnerability Fix so that you can repair them.

Disk Optimization

Here you can select the disk that you want to optimize every time you perform a Disk Optimization with Advanced SystemCare V8. And some other advanced options you can configure.

If you have SSD (Solid State Disk), Advanced SystemCare V8 will smartly recognize it and then you can decide whether to optimize it to improve its performance and durability.

Enable Optimization Defragment is an advanced and patented suspended technology of IObit. It can intelligently organize drive data for maximum performance and long-lasting data contiguity. With this function, it can defragment hard drives - up to 10 times faster than other defragmentation tools.

AutoCare

We provide two modes of AutoCare for Pro version here. You can choose to care for your computer when system is idle or at a scheduled time. Pro version users who select AutoCare for your computer at a scheduled time can click Configure button under Schedule to configure the frequency to your preference.

Note: For security and stable reason, AutoCare only scans items among Malware Removal, Registry Fix, Shortcuts Fix, Privacy Sweep, and Junk Files Clean.

AutoClean

It performs the same action like Privacy Sweep. You can choose to select the objects you want to clean or use the same settings in Privacy Sweep by ticking the checkbox Use the same settings in Privacy Sweep.

AutoUpdate

By enabling AutoUpdate for Pro version, you can be ensured that you will always use the latest program. You can also configure the Proxy settings to your preference.

Note: The invalid Proxy settings will cause some undesirable problems, such as Internet connection problems. Please make sure the Proxy you set is a valid one.

Surfing Protection

It will indicate whether one website is safe or malicious by showing this green icon or not. Surfing Protection also provides Parent Control. You can add the URLs that you want to block access from your kids.

Active Optimize

It works in background to improve PC performance automatically by intelligently managing system resource, constantly detecting inactive processes and programs, and optimizing CPU as well as RAM. It is only available in Pro version.

Ignore List

Here lists the items which will not be scanned out. If you want to scan them out and fix them, please delete them from here first.

User Interface

Here you can configure the Transparency, Language, Skin and PC Health Icon for this program.

Logs & Backup

The logs record all the actions performed by Advanced SystemCare V8. You can view the repair details. Backup backs up all the registry related changes. It is useful when Registry Fix removed some items that you want to keep. You can simply rescue the changes in Rescue Center when something unexpected happens.

Notifications

Here you can determine whether to show these notifications and how long they will be displayed as well as the transparency of the notification windows.

Homepage Protection

It will help you protect your browsers’ homepage and search engine from modification. Currently, it supports Internet Explorer and Firefox. Please click Settings... to open the configuration window.

Care

Care provides 12 modules to repair and optimize your PC for the top performance in a comprehensive way. It will take you 5-10 minutes or more to scan all the modules according to different computer condition.

Note: Before you perform a scan, it is highly recommended to go to Settings and choose your preferred settings carefully to avoid any unnecessary problems. Please do not forget to click Apply button to save

1. Spyware Removal

This module is designed to detect and remove spyware and other security threats thoroughly. After a scan is finished, you can check the problems found in detail. If you do not want to fix a problem, two options are provided:

No action: You can select No action in the drop-down menu behind the problem so that the problem will not be repaired this time.

Ignore: Selecting Ignore in the drop-down menu behind the problem or right clicking on the problem to select Ignore will add it into the Ignore List. And then the problem will not be scanned out in future scans.

2. Registry Fix

This module is designed to clean up registry in depth, remove registry junk safely, and compact registry bloat to improve PC performance significantly.

After a scan is finished, you can check the problems found in detail. If you do not want to repair a problem, just right click on the problem and select Ignore to add it into the Ignore List. And the problem will not be scanned out in future scans.

3. Privacy Sweep

This module is designed to erase your activity history and surfing traces on your computer to keep your PC clean and safe. Please note that only after closing your running browsers that the found traces will be cleaned.

4. Junk Files Clean

This module is designed to clean up junk files to recover disk space. 5. Internet Boost

This module is designed to help you test and accelerate Internet speed.

6. Shortcuts Fix

This module is designed to help you scan and repair invalid shortcuts on your computer. After a scan is finished, you can check the problems in detail.

You also have the right-click menu for the scan result like Jump to location to see where the shortcut is located and decide if you want it to be fixed.

If you do not want to repair a problem, you can select No action in the drop-down menu behind the problem so that the problem will not be repaired this time.

7. Registry Defrag

This module is designed to improve your PC performance by compacting and optimizing registry. 8. System Optimization

This module is designed to fully optimize system performance and accelerate Internet speed by unleashing the built-in power of your system, based on how you use your PC and configure your network.

After a scan is finished, you can check the problems found in detail. If you do not want to fix a problem, two options are provided:

Ignore: Selecting Ignore in the drop-down menu behind the problem or right clicking on the problem to select Ignore will add it into the Ignore List. And then the problem will not be scanned out in future scans.

9. Security Defense

This module is designed to keep your computer away from attacks or threats or unwanted pests which may be distributed via potentially dangerous sites.

10. Disk Scan

This module is designed to analyze and fix disk errors to keep your PC stable and efficient. 11. Vulnerability Fix

This module is designed to scan for Windows vulnerabilities in your computer, download hot-patches directly from Microsoft server and then install them on your computer automatically.

After running a scan, please check the problems in detail. If you do not want to fix a problem, two options are provided:

Ignore: Selecting Ignore in the drop-down menu behind the problem or right clicking on the problem to select Selecting Ignore will add it into the Ignore List. And then the problem will not be scanned out in future scans.

12. Disk Optimization

This module is designed to optimize the disk partitions of hard drive to resolve system shutdown, PC crashes, slow startup, and system failures.

Scan Screen

Tick the checkbox before the item you want to scan or tick the checkbox before Select All to select all items. Then click the big SCAN button in the center of the program to start a scan.

Tick Automatically repair or Shut down PC to tell the program what should do after the scan. By clicking the downward arrow icon , you have other options: Restart PC, Hibernate or Sleep if you do not want to shut down the computer after a scan and repair.

• Click Skip button if you change your mind not to scan the current item.

• Click Stop button if you do not want to continue the scan. After you click this button, it will go back to Care screen. All scanned results will be dropped.

• During the scanning process, you can click the item that has already finished the scan to check problems found in this item.

• During the scanning process for each item, to let you have a better estimate of how long the scan will take, a percentage number is shown during the process of the scan.

Protect

The 6 powerful protecting features including Homepage Protection, Surfing Protection, Plugin/Toolbar Cleaner, System Reinforce, Browser Anti-Tracking and Real-time Protector in Protect enhance the security of your computer to a next level.

Homepage Protection: It protects your homepage and default search engine from malicious modifications. Currently, it supports Internet Explorer and Firefox. You can click Details text link to adjust the settings to serve you better.

Surfing Protection: It protects you against various online threats by timely finding and blocking phishing sites, malicious sites and other harmful sites, so as to ensure your surfing experience.

Browser Anti-Tracking: It protects you from being tracked by monitoring and cleaning privacy traces proactively and automatically once your browser closed. Currently, it supports Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox.

Real-time Protector: It protects your computer against spyware in real-time. This function is designed to work proactively and lightly in the background without affecting your work.

Toolbox

We provide 29 useful tools including the new IObit Uninstaller 4, Startup Manager, Default Program. These tools are classified to 4 groups: IObit Products, Security & Repair, System Optimize and System Clean. The tools marked as PRO are only available for paid customers. Some tools need to be

downloaded before you can use them for the first time.

Note: Start Menu 8 will show up in Toolbox if you are a Windows 8 user. You can see more tools by clicking Show more tools at the bottom right and get back to the first page of Toolbox by clicking Hide more tools at the bottom right.

If some tools are used frequently, it is more convenient to create a desktop icon and/or pin it to Quick Launch bar. This option is provided when you use a tool for the second time.

IObit Products

Not like other three groups (Security & Repair, System Optimize and System Clean), which are parts of Advanced SystemCare, programs listed under IObit Products are IObit’s other standalone products. They are not a part of Advanced SystemCare. Some need to be purchased separately if you decide to use their Pro version.

1. IObit Uninstaller

Besides the feature of helping you uninstall programs, IObit Uninstaller V4 lists all plug-ins added in your browsers and helps you remove the plug-ins you do not want easily. Moreover, it helps you manage Win8 Apps if you are a Windows 8 user.

1. Win Fix

It analyzes your Windows operating system and helps you fix problems. It is only available in Pro version.

It’s not recommended to use Win Fix for those who are not familiar with the items listed in this tool. Misuse may lead to unwanted results.

It helps you recover the deleted files even after the Recycle Bin is emptied. Note: Files deleted by File Shredder cannot be recovered by Undelete.

It helps you delete unwanted files permanently, so that they cannot be recovered by any kind of recovery tool.

6. Default Program

It helps you set the default programs for your browser, email client, image viewer, audio player, video player, compression software and PDF reader easily and conveniently.

1. Startup Manager

It helps you optimize your computer startups by one click to speed up your computer's boot time. You can also disable or delay those programs which you do not want to run at startup by taking a reference at the disable rate and the boot time. It monitors memory usage and recycles unused memory blocks to increase available physical memory for paid users.

It optimizes your TCP/IP, IE, Firefox, and Opera settings to dramatically speed up your Internet connection. It’s only available for paid users. If some unwanted changes are made by this tool, Restore feature of Internet Booster will be helpful to restore those changes.

4. Program Deactivator

It helps you disable the unwanted or unnecessary programs’ services, startup items and scheduled tasks to enjoy ultimate computer performance.

5. Registry Defrag

It compacts and optimizes the Windows Registry by removing unnecessary gaps and wasted space. Note: It’s recommended to close all running applications before you run Registry Defrag - also including your anti-virus application.

System Clean

1. Registry Cleaner

It removes unnecessary files and other data generated during the installation, uninstallation and running process of the programs installed on your computer. It’s only available for paid users. If some unwanted changes are made by this tool, Restore feature of Registry Cleaner will be helpful to restore those changes.

2. Disk Cleaner

Here you can select disks you wish to analyze and clean up. There are two clean methods: Remove files to Recycle Bin and Delete files directly. Files can be restored from Recovery Center of Disk Cleaner if Delete files directly is selected. It is only available in Pro version.

3. Empty Folder Scanner

It helps you find empty folders, and then delete them.

Note: Not all empty folders are unnecessary. Some empty folders are necessary for system or security programs. So some empty folders will be recreated after you delete them. This is normal.

4. Shortcut Fixer

It searches for invalid shortcuts and references, and helps you fix them.

5. Cloned Files Scanner

It finds files that have the same name and size on your computer (cloned files) and then you can decide whether to delete them or not.

Note: This tool is designed to help you find duplicate files, not junk files. Before you delete any files, please make sure they are useless.

Turbo Boost

Turbo Boost helps you optimize and speed up your computer by detecting and switching off the unnecessary background processes and services.

Turn on/off

To turn on Turbo Boost, please just click the Boost dashboard in the center of the main interface of Turbo Boost. To turn off Turbo Boost, please just click the Restore dashboard in the center of the main interface of Turbo Boost.

Configure Turbo Boost

We provide Work Mode, Game Mode or Economy Mode. Work Mode will boost your computer for better work experience. Game Mode can boost your computer much deeply for gaming. And Economy Mode will boost your computer for better performance as well as longer battery life.

To build your own Turbo Boost, please click Configure link at the bottom of the main interface, choose Work Mode, Game Mode or Economy Mode according to your needs, click Next button and then follow the wizard to finish your configuration. Or just click the label name (Mode, System Services, Non-Windows Services, Background Apps, Power Plan, and Finish) under the dashboard to only configure the items you want.

Note: Please view all processes and services carefully to make sure that the necessary processes and services are not selected to be stopped.

Turn on at Windows startup

An option to turn on Turbo Boost at Windows startup is also provided during the configuration process.

Action Center

Action Center provides two parts: Security & Performance and Software Updater.

Security & Performance recommends you other well-known IObit software for better security and performance. You can operate the programs quickly in Action Center.

Method 1: Go to Settings -> Click General Settings -> Tick the item Enable Performance Monitor -> Click Apply and OK button.

Method 2: Go to Quick Settings -> click on Off button next to Performance Monitor-> Click Apply and OK button.

Method 3: Right click on the ASC icon in system tray -> Select Open Performance Monitor.

We have two ways to show the Performance Monitor: a window and a bar. To minimize it, please click icon .To maximize it, please click icon .
