How it’s done:
Take 4 cards, 3 of them have different numbers printed on each end. In other words, one end has an ace, while the other end has a 3. there is also another card that has ace printed on both ends.
Hold the cards so that the audience sees one ace, and three 3’s, then turn the pack around without the audience realizing it, and then show that the cards have turned into 4 aces.
7. Enchanted Ropes Introduction:
Show the audience three ropes that are all the same length. Gather the ropes up into your palm. Open up your palm and suddenly the ropes are all different length. One is long, one is medium length, and one is short. Of course this is done by using the magic wand.
How it’s done:
There are three ropes of different lengths. One is long, one is medium and one is short. Fold the long rope in half: Loop the short rope at the bend, and place the medium length rope along side the two looped ropes (drawing 1). Hide the loops with your thumb
(drawing 2). Collect all the ropes in your left list.
Pass the magic wand over the fist, and say the magic words, then throw the ropes onto the table, and show the audiences 3 ropes of different lengths (drawing 3).
8. Telephone Telepathy Introduction:
Give a participant a piece of paper that has a telephone dialer printed on it. Ask the participant to write either a telephone number or a name (without anyone seeing it), on his piece of paper. The participant should then fold the paper twice (into 4 equal parts).
Take the paper and tear it up. Then concentrate and to the wonder of the audience, reveal the correct number or name.
How it’s done:
The only free space for writing on the telephone dialer is in the center. When folding, this will be located at the folded corner. When you tear up the paper first tear the corner where the number or name is written. Hold this part in your palm, and tear the rest
into little pieces. Throw the little pieces into
a wastepaper bin while the audience watches. Turn your back to the audience.
Make believe that you are concentrating, and read what is written on the paper in your palm.
9. The magic paddle Introduction:
In this trick, you will show the audience, how a spot moves magically from. Place to place or disappears. The trick is based on making a double turn the paddle.
1 2 3
1 2
In order to convince the audience that there is no spot on the other side, make half a turn with your wrist and turn the paddle 180 degrees with your fingers. To show that there is a spot on the paddle use your other hand to cover the paddle, while you turn around the paddle and then show that a spot has appeared. You can now show that there a spot on both sides (by making a double turn). Repeat the half turn, and show the audience that the spot has appeared on both sides of the paddle.
Warning:
Do not show both sides of the paddle. Make the turn quickly and smoothly between your 2 finger. Note: if you practice, you can use two paddles and make the half turn with either hand, you will be able
to show the audience, how the spot jumps from paddle to paddle. Show the audience a spotted paddle in your right hand, and a blank paddle in your left hand. Make a half turn of both paddles at the same time, and the right paddle will become blank while the paddle will have a spot. The spot “jumped” from the right paddle to the left paddle. You can do this trick by placing a spot onto the paddle as long as you make sure that the same colour spot appears on one side of each paddle.
10. Thimble turns colours
Place a light coloured thimble on the pointer of your right hand, and show the audience. As you do this, hide a dark coloured thimble in the palm of your right hand. Bend the third finger, and “steal” the hidden thimble. Make believe you put the light coloured be in your left hand, but actually you put the dark coloured thimble in your left hand, the light coloured thimble in your right hand. Show the audience the uncovered finger, audience will think that the light coloured thimble is in your left hand. Say the magic words, and open your left hand to show the audience that the thimble has changed colours.
11. The disappearing thimble
The secret of this trick is quick and nimble hands. That is why you must practice this trick very often. Place the thimble on the pointer of your right hand. Stand so that the right side of your face is towards the audience, who will only see the back of your right hand. Band the finger quickly towards your palm, and grab the thimble that’s in
your palm. The pointer must straighten out immediately to its original position. This trick works best when you cover the right hand with the left hand (at the same time that you bend your finger, to grab the thimble). Show the audience that the thimble has disappeared.

your body, the rubber string will tighten up and the ring will rise (Fig. 3). To lower the ring bring the wand towards your body. The rubber string will slacken and the ring will fall. Ask to be paid with a ring, if you like.
Note: Do not detach the rubber string from your clothing; use it for the next trick.
13. The Floating Magic Wand Description of the trick:
The wand, inside a bottle, rises and falls at your command.
Props:Bottle, Magic wand, Safety pin.
Preparation: The rubber string (used in the previous trick) is still connected to your clothing. Place the empty bottle on the table.
Performance: Say: “For a moment I thought the ring was enchanted, but now I realize that the wand is a magic wand”. Place end 1 of the wand in the empty bottle (Fig. 1).
Out loud, give the order: ‘Wand float!Wand rise”! Move your body backwards. The rubber string will tighten up, and the wand will rise, looking as though it is floating in the bottle.
14. The Adhesive Wand Description of the trick:
The magic wand miraculously sticks to your fingers.
Props:
Magic wand
Preparation: The rubber string is stretched tight along the wand and connected to both ends of the wand, underneath the white caps. The audience cannot see the rubber string.
Performance: Say: “This is my very own wand. I don’t have to keep an eve on it and hold it. It holds on to me. Even when I try to leave it. It stays with me”.
While you are talking, slip the fingers of your right hand between the wand and the rubber string (Fig.1).Your left hand is still holding the wand. Say: “I am leaving you. Go away!”, then move your left hand away from the wand-Wonder of wonders! - The wand sticks to your fingers, even though you are not holding on to it (Fig. 2).
15. The Rolling Wand Description of the trick:
The magician creates static electricity in the wand which makes it move by itself.
Props:
Table, Magic wand
Preparation: Ensure that the surface of the table is smooth and flat.
Performance: Hold the wand and rub the end of it vigorously on the table or on your sleeve.
Say: “I am charging the wand with static electricity” Place the wand on the table and stare at it intently from close up. Nothing happens.

16. The Magic Bead Description of the trick:
The magician succeeds in balancing a bead on the wand and rolling it from end to end, without the bead falling off
Props:
Magic wand, Bead
Preparation: Hold the wand in one hand. The rubber string is facing you and is invisible to the audience. Hold the bead up with your other hand and say: “Ladies and gentlemen This trick requires a great deal of concentration and steady hand. Quiet please!” While you are talking, slip your thumb between the
rubber string and the wand (rig. 1) Place the bead on the wand with your thumb. Pretend as if you are finding it difficult to make the bead stay there, when actually, you are having no trouble at all in steadying the bead between the wand and the rubber string.
When the bead is in place, hold the other end of the wand with your free hand and there too, slip your thumb between the wand and the rubber string. Do all this slowly and gently. Say: “Bead, Roll from end to end!” Roll the bead backwards and forwards along the wand several times (Fig.2)
17. The Wand Turns into a Snake Description of the trick:
The rigid wand becomes flexible before the audience.
Props: Magic wand
Preparation: To carry out this trick, you must remove the rubber string from the wand. Practice in front of a mirror. Hold the wand between your thumb and forefinger (Fig. 1). Start to move your hand rapidly and horizontally from right to left.
Note: Hold the wand gently. The movement of your hand creates an optical illusion whereby the wand appears to be very flexible, although it is actually rigid (Fig.2).
Performance: Say: “I am holding a rigid wand”. Pretend as if you are trying to break the wand. Say: “See how it turns into a snake in my hand”. While you are talking, move the band in the manner in which you have practiced. Don’t stop all at once. Stop moving your hand gradually. Ask a volunteer from the audience to examine the wand. This is why you have to remove the rubber string. No one from the audience must be allowed to understand what the rubber string is used for in other tricks.
The Wonder Wallet
You can identify the wallet by its rectangular shape.
1. Open up the wallet (as in Fig. 1). Remove the center of section 5, which contains numbers that are used in the hypnotic calculator trick. As result, the partition now has an open “window” in it.
2. Fold section 1 back under section 3 and straighten it out
3. Fold section 2 under section 5 (which has the open window) - see Fig. 2.
4. Fold section 3 onto section 4, You should make the fold from right
Fig. 1
Fig. 2
The magic wallet which you now have is no ordinary wallet. It contains a concealed inside pocket and you will be able to hide things inside it without your audience noticing.
Using the wallet
Always open the wallet from right to left (Fig. 4). Place a card inside the wallet (Fig. 5) and close side X onto side Y. Hold the wallet in your left hand and open it facing left.
Move the wallet round horizontally (Fig. 6), so that the upper edge becomes the lower edge. Open the wallet with your right hand: What do you know!. The card has vanished! Repeat the process until it comes to you naturally.
Tricks with the Wonder Wallet
18. The Wallet is a BankDescription of the trick:
A check for 10 dollars is placed in the wonder wallet. And what happens? The check vanishes and cash money appears in its place.
Props:
A check for 10 dollars A 10 dollar note
The magic wallet
Preparation: Fold up a 10 dollar note and put it inside the secret pocket in the wallet. Prepare a check for 10 dollars and keep it, in case no one in the audience has a check book.
Performance: Say: “Ladies and gentlemen, this wallet I am holding is no ordinary wallet. This wallet is able to change a check for cash’. Ask for a volunteer from the audience and say to him: “Write out a check for 10 dollars Put the check in the wallet above the secret pocket (always remember to open the wallet from the right hand side)
and say to the audience: “You have all seen that the check was written out before your very eyes”. Show them both sides of the check and put it in the wallet. Say: “Since I am a magician I have no need for a bank. I can change any check for cash all by myself”. While you are talking, turn the wallet over and say: “I need some cash”. Open the wallet and. well, look at that! The check has turned into cash.
19. Changing and Vanishing Cards Description of the trick:
The 7 of diamonds turns into the ace of hearts and then vanishes completely.
Props:
Double-sided card Wonder wallet
Preparation: Have the card printed on both sides ready. One side shows the 7 of diamonds and the other side, the ace of hearts. Place the card over the secret pocket in the wallet, which should be to your right, and close the wallet with the 7 of diamonds face up.

red ace of hearts side of the double-sided card to the audience. (Be careful you don’t show them the other side.) Place it over the secret pocket. Close the wallet and turn it over on its front.
Keep talking the whole time you are doing this. ‘But when I got home and wanted to make sure that my card had turned back in to a number 7 which is my lucky number I found that the card had disappeared completely” Open the wallet and let everyone see that it is empty. ‘Since then I have realized that I don’t need lucky cards any more. For after all I am a magician and who needs luck when you know magic tricks”
20. Easy come easy go
Description of the trick:
A bank note appears in the wallet, then disappears.
Props:
Wonder wallet
10 and 20 dollar banknotes
Preparation: Fold the 20 dollar note and hide it in the secret pocket of the wallet before you start performing. Put the 10 dollar note on the table.
Performance “I usually go around with my wallet empty even though there’s no automatic teller machine near my house, Since I’m a magician I decided it was about time I did something about this. So I found the magic wallet. I went out of the house without checking the wallet at all I got onto a bus and the driver asked me to pay. I opened the wallet. and it was empty, The driver looked at me and I smiled” While you are talking, turn the wallet round without letting the audience see what you are doing. “The driver started to get impatient so I said “Hocus Pocus! opened the wallet and there to the driver’s amazement was a 20 dollar note ! The driver gave me change a 10 dollar note I put the note in my wallet, put the wallet in my pocket and sat down .The lady sitting next to me asked me if I could conjure up some more money like that. I said -”Let’s see - and opened my wallet. And what do you know. The 10 dollar note had disappeared. From this we can conclude”. Easy come easy go”.
Card Tricks
Please note that there is a double-sided card in the pack of cards. Don’t use this card unless the instructions specifically say that you should.
21. A Strong Card
Description of the trick:
A glass of water is made to stand up on the card.
Props:
A glass half-full of water Card and a half-card
Preparation: Take out two cards from the pack. One of the cards is cut lengthways down the middle (Fig. 1). Glue the half card onto the back of the whole card in the form of the letter T (Fig.2).

22. Song with the Wind Description of the trick:
A card which the audience can see disappears, and another card appears as if from nowhere. Props:
Half-card 3 other cards Cellotape
Preparation: stick the 2 of diamonds half-card onto the ace of spades, in the same way as you did in the “Strong Card” trick, but this time, do it on the front of the card and not on the back of it (Fig.1). Put the 5 of hearts card between them (Fig. 2). Fold the half-card so that it covers half of the 5 of hearts which you slipped between it and the ace of spades (Fig. 8). Take the 4 of clubs
card and cover up with it that half of the 5 of hearts which is still showing, and the 2 of diamonds half card (Fig 4). The point of all this is to make sure that the audience don’t see the card which you have hidden (in this case, the 5 of hearts).
Performance: Let the audience see the three cards which are showing and say: you can see three cards, What is the middle card? Yes, it’s the 2 of diamonds. You can all see that the middle card is the two of diamonds”.
Turn the cards over with their backs facing upwards and ask for a volunteer from the audience. Ask the volunteer to take out the middle card (that is, the card which you have hidden, the 5 of hearts) and put it face down on the table. Say: “Hocus Pocus” and ask the volunteer to show the card to the audience. The audience is sure that the volunteer is going to show them the 2 of diamonds but to their amazement, he shows them the 5 of hearts.
23. A Double Mistake Description of the trick:
A card shown to the audience changes into another card behind the magician’s back.
Props:
Double-sided card, Double-back card
Performance: Hold both cards between your thumb and fingers, so that the audience can see an ace and the back of another card (Fig. 1). Move your hand downwards and while you are doing so, place the ace against the other side of the stuck-together card. Raise your hand and show the cards.
The audience will see the back of one card and the 7 of diamonds instead of the ace of hearts (Fig.2).
So the audience think they have seen two different cards; the ace of hearts and the back of the 7 of diamonds, and the 7 of diamonds itself and the back of the ace of hearts. Present the cards to the audience as in Fig. 1. Take the ace and hide it behind your back. Ask; “What card do I have left in my hand?” The audience is certain that the card they can see in your hand is the 7 of diamonds. Hold up the card which you had behind your back with the 7 of diamonds side facing the audience and say: “No .I
24. Cards that Change Places Description of the Trick:
The magician puts a card in his pocket and another card in a volunteer’s pocket. The cards change places.
Props:

The Magic Spatula:
Tricks with the magic spatula are an important part of the magician’s program. You should start out by learning the secret movement of the spatula.
The Secret Magic Spatula Movement:
The spatula is moved in a manner which will deceive the audience. It looks as though you are turning the spatula over, when you are really always showing the audience the same side. The secret magic spatula movement is made in two stages. Learn them separately but afterwards practice them at the same time.
Stage 1: Hold the handle of the spatula between forefinger and thumb (Fig.1). Hold the handle tightly so that it doesn’t slip. Turn the handle slowly till the spatula turns over (Fig. 2) and you can see the others side (Fig. 3).
This is called a “half turn Now do this backwards, moving your original position, Practice
making a half-turn until it comes to you easy.
Stage 2: Hold the spatula as in Fig. 4, level with your hips. Turn your hand towards your body, with the palm of your hand facing the floor (Fig. 5) Now try
to make both movements together. By combining these movements, you are letting the audience think
you are showing them both sides of the spatula, when in fact you are only showing them one side (Fig. 6). You will sometimes actually need to make what really does appear to be only a half-turn, in order to make something suddenly appear on the spatula. Do so with a rapid forward movement.
This movement prevents the audience from seeing that you have turned the spatula over. Try this, it’s very easy. It is important that you remember to make the secret spatula movement the leisurely, without hurrying. The secret of every trick with the magic spatula is the same using the secret spatula movement.

spatula movement to make them think the spatula is empty on both sides. Say: “This spatula is very useful
when I need some money The spatula’s power comes from these three magic rubber bands. Now watch this!” Pickup a coin which is the same as the one under the first rubber band. Stick it under the first rubber band (Fig. 2). Make the secret spatula movement. The audience will think there is a coin on each side of the spatula. Pick up another coin which is the same as the one under the middle rubber band. Stick it under the middle rubber band and say: “This coin multiplies as well”. You “prove” this with the secret spatula movement. Repeat the process with the third coin. Now remove the coins from both sides of the spatula with your thumb and forefinger. Start by removing the coins under the first rubber band, then continue with the coins under the last band. Show the coins to the audience and let them fall noisily onto the table. But be careful! When you are letting the coins fall, don’t turn over the spatula or you will reveal the banknote. When you have removed the coins, make the secret spatula movement and say:
“You can now all see that the spatula has nothing on it on either side. But I still don’t have enough money”. Move your hand forward and make the half-turn. The banknote, which you folded up before the start of the performance, will appear on the spatula. Remove the note, unfold it and show the audience that it is genuine.

I draw a line on one side of the spatula and it automatically appears on the other side of the spatula’. Make the secret spatula movement and show the line which has supposedly just appeared on the other side of the spatula. Then draw another line, in the middle of the spatula (Fig. 2) “IF I draw another line. do you think the same thing will happen? Show the audience again how lines seem to appear on both sides of the spatula. Draw a third line: “This is amazing ! the lines keep on duplicating themselves”. Ask for a volunteer and let him examine the lines on the spatula. Now pay attention I am going to Erase the upper line on the first side of the spatula. Move the spatula forward and make the half - turn. The audience will see three lines and think that they have reappeared. Make the secret spatula movement to make the audience think the lines are on both sides, although you have erased them on one side. Now erase the bottom line on the other side of the spatula. The sides will now look as
