How to log on from home

It may seem obvious, but it’s probably worth mentioning anyway.

In order to log on to the Worcester Tech portal, and access any of the e-resources, you need to have a current, active IT account with Worcester Tech. If we don’t know who you are, we won’t let you access our systems. So you need to have an ac-count, and you need to know:

Your username Your password

The next step is to fire up your PC, open up your browser, and go to

www.wortech.ac.uk

Click on ‘Student and staff login’ at the bottom, under

(3)

Click on the ‘Student’ radio button,

Enter your username (first initial, surname and last three digits of your student ID number)

Enter your password Your username is lower case Click on ‘Log On’

Assuming you have successfully logged on, you will see your home page on the college portal. From here, you can access many of our services and resources.

Connecting to the College network

To use some resources, you will need to connect to the college network itself, not just the portal. To do this from home, you need to download and install VPN (Virtual Private Network) software. This can be done from the portal.

Once you are on your home page (see above), enter VPN in the search box. Click on the VPN Instructions Page

===>

Choose your operating instructions and follow the

instruc-tions to install the VPN software.

Once you have connected to your network (H) drive, any

request for electronic resources e.g. journals and databases

will be made as if you were actually in the college and logged

on to one of the college PCs.
