Doctor of Physical Therapy

Preparing Movement Experts to Lead the Way

In the Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions, physical therapy is about much more than strengthening weak muscles and improving range of motion. It’s about treating the whole person. The DPT curriculum focuses on a cutting-edge, evidence-based model, taught by our nationally recognized faculty who expose students to the most current clinical techniques available. That means you’ll learn how to diagnose and plan physical therapy interventions that are personalized for each individual. There’s no guesswork. With our patients we strive to make sure there’s no “one size fits all” formula and for ourselves as clinicians, we strive for leadership in all areas through inspiration, collaboration and accomplishment.

Faculty

From the moment our students step on campus for their admission interview they know why they want to attend Regis. It’s our faculty. Regis Faculty have top professional accolades, from hundreds of publications and presentations both nationally and internationally, to leading clinically relevant research; but at their core, they love teaching. With doctorate degrees and clinical specialties from pediatrics to geriatrics, sports rehab to orthopedic manual therapy, they mentor students into this profession through their passion and expertise. And although teaching is number one, they also continue to practice in clinics, teaching you from experience, not just theory. With an emphasis placed on developing leaders in the profession, you will be assured of one-on-one face time with Regis University’s nationally distinguished faculty.

Learn Through Experience

At Regis University, in addition to your outstanding education in the classroom, you will also participate in 38 weeks of clinical experience. The clinical component of the program takes place off campus in quality clinical settings across the country in three different concentration areas: musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and complex systems. To enhance your learning experience and an appreciation of various practice settings, students must complete a minimum of one clinical experience out-of-state and one experience in a rural setting.

Regis University DPT students gain a competitive edge through hands-on experience with inpatient, outpatient, rural, and international sites, and in some cases international sites. During clinical experiences, you have the opportunity to integrate knowledge gained from courses and to expand your skills in evaluation, intervention, case management, and interpersonal communication.
