Dear Families:
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year for Saginaw Public Schools. Once again, I am excited to begin this school year, as we will be implementing a restructuring plan designed to address the challenges presented by the pandemic throughout last school year. School will begin in the traditional five days a week schedule. There will not be a virtual option offered.
For those students and parents that attended the 2021 Summer School Academies and Camps throughout the district, that was just a preview of the 2021-22 school year. The 21-22 school year will roll out with an unprecedented new design supported through ESSER funding received from the federal government. Some of the highlights include 2:1 Chromebook ratios for students, lower student to teacher ratios for each classroom, additional reading resources to take home, additional enrichment opportunities, enhanced social emotional support, additional course offerings and electives. as well as after school tutoring support. Specific details will be posted on the website and Facebook page following the August 18th board meeting. In addition, following the August 18th board meeting, we will be posting our Covid-19 safety guidelines for the 21-22 school year. We will continue to deliver the curriculum both digitally and through traditional hard copy formats. We are confident that this curriculum will provide the necessary rigor and resources that will enable us to continue to increase student achievement and to ensure that our students are college and/or career ready. Additionally, we have added Automotive Technology and Physical Therapy as two new programs at the Saginaw Career Complex. These programs will also increase our ability to prepare students to be career ready. Finally, we will be continuing with our work on the bond, completing the design phase of the projects and moving to construction within the next few months. Through hard work, communication and collaboration, we will continue to make Saginaw Public Schools one the best school systems in the country, continuing to increase achievement scores, college acceptance rates and graduation rates.
Our collective efforts and relentless consistency will continue to assist in advancing our school district and community. We will continue to strive to provide the strongest educational program possible, and create consistent opportunities for our students to learn and grow in an environment which is safe, orderly and respectful to the individual child.
Thank you for taking the time to support our students and the school district. If you need assistance in any area, I encourage you to contact any member of our staff. We are eager to provide you with any information and or support which can enhance the educational experience of your child.
We look forward to welcoming all of our students back to school on Monday, August 30, 2021.
