HPCA Board Meeting July 19 @ 9:30 a.m.

Note from the President

We are fast approaching July, which translates into warmer temperatures, sitting in the shade at the

pool, making sure our air conditioning units are functioning properly and more frequent use of our

outdoor grills.

Please contact your block captain or the office if you find that you do not have a flag holder to support your flag for the upcoming July 4th holi-

day.

It appears that there are more homes and villas going up for sale and it would be most appreciated

if you notice someone moving in, introduce your- self and find out their name, phone no., email ad-

dress and then follow up with pertinent infor- mation.

We are experiencing more clubhouse activities taking place and if you are interested in participat- ing please contact the HP office or inform them of

an activity that you might desire to initiate.

Please be aware all HP villa owners that there will be a meeting set up with our lawyer regarding vot- ing on your upcoming ballot and the issues involved

for either a Yes or No vote. Time and day of the Ballot meeting is July 20 @ 2:00 at the clubhouse.

If you are planning on traveling or vacationing with family or friends this summer, please take all nec- essary precautions and be safe! Have a special July

4th!

Grounds Committee Report

We are once again getting rainfall in our area. Coupled with our intensive turf program, our lawns are green, thicker and healthy. Please help maintain this

community by watering wisely. If rain prevents Brightview from completing its mowing cycle during a specific week, they will begin the next week where they were forced to stopped earlier. Seasonal flowers are planted in June. Pruning is well under way. They are currently working its way through section 2. Due to the maturity of plants in these sections, pruning takes a bit longer . We have been assured that this first round will be completed within 12 weeks. Fall pruning will begin soon after. REMEMBER to mark with flags or ribbons any plants special to you to avoid accidental pruning. For your information and reference, mowing and pruning maps, designated by section number, are posted on the office bulletin board. Also posted are the Heritage Pines pruning standards. If you are a new resident and have not yet completed your Opt In/Out form for optional BrightView services,

please stop by the office to complete this task. These are services which the HOA pays for and are for your benefit. However, we make these optional because some

homeowners do not want to take advantage of certain services based upon the specifics of their own plan of their own plantings.

Please note that these forms will be made available to all again in the late fall for the 2022 landscaping season. At that point, your decisions for services will become

permanent for the next year. No changes can be made during the year.

Key to Tennis court

To enter the tennis court, the key will be on the inside door in the kitchen by

the side door. If any questions, please contact Art Lester.

Welcome Linda Driscoll

Clubhouse Committee:

Summer is here and the Clubhouse and Recreation area are being used for events including card games, playing pool, line dancing, mahjongg, aquatic exercising, pickleball, swimming, and bocce ball. Visiting with new and old neighbors during the Ice Cream Social was a great time for all. The Commit- tee is interested in hearing from you about what recreational games you would like to have to replace the Put- ting Green and Horseshoe Pit. Some people have suggested maybe a Shuf- fleboard Court or a Cornhole Game ( a lawn game). Please send your sugges- tions to [email protected],

Tech Talk

Tech Talk is back in the Clubhouse in July 17th at 9 am. We’ll be talking tech: specifically the huge spike in ransom ware and hacking that is affecting more and more business- es. Remember the gas shortage?

That was a DIRECT result of hack- ing/use of ransomware to cripple a business and force them to pay millions of dollars to get their data/

information back. This is not a scary movie story, this is REAL, this is NOW and it can affect any- one, anywhere.

Live & Learn

A Live & Learn with JC Knowles will begin August 25 and the Preston Brunch will be Sept 22 10:00 . Out to Lunch Bunch

The “out to Lunch Bunch” will re-

sume in September where we will

enjoy lunch at a different local

venue once a month. Details to fol-

low. Any questions, call Ginny Sku-

lavik.

Social Committee News

We hope you all are enjoying the opportu- nities this summer at the Clubhouse to meet our new neighbors and visit with you friends!

Thank you to our Heritage Pines Board for sponsoring our ice cream party. Soon we will be having events that require a fee. All our events and programs are sellf-

supporting. All the money collected pays for the food purchased and the supplies that are used for the event. In the future, the cost of the set up and clean up fees will be added. The cost of food and sup- plies continues to rise, which will cause our fees to increase as well.

The purpose of the Social Committee is not only to plan social and educational events, but to also encourage and help others to organize and lead events. We need more volunteers and groups to schedule and plan events to help make Heritage Pines an active and fun place to live! We can only accomplish this with participation from the community.

We hope you will consider helping to or- ganize and lead an event in the future. If you would like to schedule, chair or co- chair an event, please see a member of the Social Committee or ask the ladies in the office to refer you to a member of the com- mittee.

Check this month’s newsletter for infor- mation about an appetizer party at the pool. We will look forward to seeing you !

Book Club Invitation

The Tuesday Afternoon Book Club will meet on Tuesday, July 6th at 1:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse. We will be dis- cussing A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler. We always make use of the book club kits provided by the

Wake County library system so there is no cost to our Heritage Pines resident. New books are signed out and re- cently discussed books re- turned during each meeting.

Meetings usually last about an hour. Please join us if you are interested .
