Spotting risks in the food chain is a daily challenge faced by growers, importers, producers, retailers, laboratories and regulators.

It is a task made all the more difficult by having to wade through end- less reports, other information sources (often in foreign languages) and trying to compare the results of this search across countries just to find the bits that might apply to you.

The regulatory framework concerning the occurrence of pesticide residues (MRLs) is changing. The standardization of the MRLs for EU members helps but there is still the problem with registered ver- sus expired (last use/expiry date) agrochemicals. Sometimes no MRL exists but there are still agrochemicals in use with this active substance in the country.

Homologa™ is set to change all that. Available for use in primary production by product and regulatory managers, researchers, labo- ratories and agricultural consultants, and in the food industry by re- tailers, food processors and food chain managers, Homologa™ pro- vides agronomic information including the current pesticide product approval status (expired agrochemicals are also included) of over 60 countries together with the MRLs, to support strategic business decisions and ensure compliance within the prevailing regulatory frameworks.

Homologa™

the Global Crop Protection Database of

MRLs and current product registrations

(5)

Homologa™ facilitates the access to regulatory data and hence saves important resources to its subscribers. There are numerous examples in which Homologa™ has been used to resolve critical problems. Subscribers can search online for expired and registered crop protection products as well as their associated MRLs in several countries in a single report. There is also the possibility to receive alert e-mails when registrations or MRLs change. In addition, the new version of Homologa™ provides access to product label infor- mation for many countries and companies. The database can also be used for the search of available pest-solutions for Minor Uses.

The Homologa™ Team and it’s global collaborators update constantly the database. Today the mark of 7 000 000 lines of registration data is passed and will continue to increase further.

(6)

The database gives access to detailed information about:

• Approved plant protection products

National product name, registration number, company name, active ingredients, concentration, formulation, product group, crop name, crop group, pest name, method of application, time of application, pest/problem, minimum dose rate, maximum dose rate, amount of water, maximum number of treatments, pre-harvest-interval and for some countries: risk phrases, symbols and environmental phrases

• Registration-status of active ingredients on EU-level

• Actual status of registration (new, expired and /or last use date)

• Approved parallel imports

• Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) in foodstuffs

• New or modified MRLs

• Export-/import statistics of food and ornamentals

The Global Crop Protection Database

• Competitive Analysis

• Product Management

• Global registrations

• Food chain issues including risk analysis, residues

• Minor use issues

Access

Homologa™ is a password protected online database, accessible via Internet with annual subscription. Modular subscriptions are available for individual modules, crop-groups and countries.

There are several ways to access the database:

• Online interrogation with immediate reports

• Offline alert reports. The address from where the report can be downloaded is sent via e-mail. The frequency of the updates can be set on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.

• Customized regular data downloads for transferring data to other databases.

Updates
