Abstract
This workshop will present technology services,
facilities, tools and products available to students at
CSUF. The new and emerging technologies are
brining student’s services and teaching and learning
inside and outside class rooms much closer than ever in
higher education. Come and learn about IT related
services, high tech enabled facilities, tools that enrich
the educational experience of students and software
products that improve the students’ quality of life,
engagement, retention, and success.
ILC
The Information and Learning Commons (ILC) integrates
information resources, technological resources, and Tech support services to provide full service student support for research, writing assistance, and production of papers and projects in a single
Virtual computer Lab
Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) allows students, faculty, and staff to access university-licensed computer applications via the Internet. It allows you to work on a lab computer from home or any location with a high-speed Internet connection.

Instructional Classrooms
Equipped Group Study Rooms (Smart Rooms)
• There are seven Equipped Group Study Rooms located in the library north first and second floor.
• Rooms may be checked out by currently enrolled CSUF students, with no holds, and are intended for student class/study-related purposes only. Rooms must be checked out to groups of two or more.
• Rooms are equipped with smart classroom lectern, flat panel TVs, projectors, web-cams, smart board, scanners, DVD players, and more. • Students can make reservations one week in advance online at:

• Students will need to come to the ILC Support Desk to check-out the room.
Instructional Classrooms
McCarthy Commons Instructional Classroom
Located in MH-044
• Instructional computer classroom setup primarily for the Natural Sciences & Mathematics (NSM) & Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) colleges.
• Department heads coordinate and book classroom times per semester (Fall & Spring only). Scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis.
• Requests can also be made for other departments’ classes, training programs, meetings, etc. for dates and times that are open.
• The room is equipped with 32 PCs, lectern with projector and document
camera, an instructor’s computer setup with LanSchool, and printing services (available upon request of the faculty).
Student Genius Corner (SGC)
• Located in Titan Lab
• The SGC provides a number of services to students, including an online reservation system for students to make appointments, and also supports the Testing Center.
• Some of the services provided: Long-term Laptop Checkout for Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) classes; Technical assistance, such as wireless
network/printer connection, installing campus related software, etc. for personal laptops and smart phones; etc.

Testing Center
• Allows students to take TITANium based online tests for certain enrolled courses. Eligibility for online tests is determined by the professor.
• Consists of 7 cubicles equipped with PCs using LanSchool and is monitored by cameras.
• Online reservation system for students to book their test date and time for their online courses that utilize the service.
Titan Lab Support Desk
Location: Student Genius Corner & Testing Center
Provides students basic computer support relating to programs installed on the computers and miscellaneous questions about the Library and campus.
Laptop /iPad Rentals
SGC Long-Term Laptops
• Students who are taking a class that uses the Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) will be eligible to check out the laptops.
• VCL allows students to access university-licensed computer
applications. Students will automatically be enrolled to the program by their instructors.
• Laptops can be checked out for 30 days and can be renewed up to four times during the semester.
ILC Hourly Laptops
• Students are able to checkout laptops from the ILC Support Desk for use within the Library. The laptops can be checked-out for 4 hours.
iPads
• Students are able to checkout iPads from the ILC Support Desk for use within the Library. The iPads can be checked-out for 4 hours.
Printing Services
Black & White Laser Printers
• Located on each floor of the Library North, ILC Oasis South, & McCarthy Commons. • Students are able to send their print jobs to any printer located in each service area.
Color Laser Printers
• Located in ILC Oasis North, Titan Lab & McCarthy Commons.
• Students are able to send their print jobs to any printer located in each service area.
Wireless Printing
• Students are able to connect wirelessly to any of the printers in ILC and McCarthy Commons.
Print-Only Stations
• Located on each floor of the Library North, ILC Oasis South, & McCarthy Commons. • Students can print documents from their flash drives, CDs, floppy disks, or campus email that don’t require any editing and are ready for printing from these stations.

• Displays the number of available computers in Information and Learning Commons and McCarthy Commons computer labs.
