Nearly 52 years ago, a few local business owners who felt that outdoor arts and crafts could become a traditional success, started what is now today called the Uptown Art Fair. What started in 1963 as a small event with artists propping their pieces of work against the curb to sell their wares, has grown into a nationally recognized, top-ranked, three-day fine arts festival attracting nearly 400,000 people in just three days.

In 2014- this was due to the support of 51 sponsors, 52 local businesses and organizations, and over 700 volunteers. This community event pro-vides a free, cultural experience for all visitors, with most attendees citing the artwork as their reason for attending.
