The global world is characterised by steadily expanding world-wide net-works, on the one hand, and a global shortage of IT experts, on the other. As a result, there is a growing de-mand for software engineers who can look forward to well-paid positions in industry. Thus, the job prospects for Master students in this field are highly promising.
Prospective employers of our gradua-tes are internationally operating com-panies which require a broad range of skills as well as specific expertise in software development. Alternatively, job openings may be provided by small and medium-sized enterprises which develop software solutions for larger companies. Finally, by success-fully completing this Master pro-gramme, our graduates will be well equipped to set up their own business or to develop and perform software projects all over the world.
Job prosperity in software engineer-ing not only depends on subject knowledge but also on project and change management experience. Moreover, intercultural and inter-personal competences are crucial for
software engineers who seek to take appropriate management decisions and to act confidently and responsib-ly in a challenging business environ-ment.
For this reason, the Faculty of Infor-matics has designed this postgradu-ate programme to qualify first-degree graduates for management and leadership positions in international IT organisations.
This course has been created in close consultation with business, indus-try and the engineering professions to ensure the employability of the prospective graduates. Cooperating companies are, inter alia, AUDI AG, Daimler AG, Bosch Engineering GmbH, Würth GmbH and SAP AG.

Heilbronn University has appointed a body of notable academics who possess unique competences that derive from their qualifications and professional experience. They have all worked in industry or commerce and understand, at first hand, the challenges presented by a global business world. Moreover, most tenured lecturers are involved in (inter)national research projects. Academic partnerships and exchange programmes with a number of uni-versities all over the world allow our students to gain experience in an international software engineering context. Such partner institutions are Edinburgh Napier University in Scot-land, Dundalk Institute of Technology in Ireland and the Universidad Poli-técnica de Valencia in Spain. These partnerships may include projects with virtual international student teams as well as video conferences and other form of on-line collabo-ration.
The Master of Software Engineering and Management can be obtained in 3 semesters.
The first two semesters cover the following four major areas providing a sound theoretical basis in each field
and preparing students for a number organisational and leadership tasks in international software engineering organisations.

Successful applicants fulfil the fol-lowing entry requirements:

X An excellent or good German (average grade of 2.5 or less) or Eu-ropean Bachelor degree (minimum 210 ECTS) or an equivalent inter-national qualification (attested by an ASK certificate) in Computer Science or a closely-related field. Candidates who have obtained 180 ECTS for their first degree can acquire an extra 30 ECTS in appropriate Bachelor programmes at Heilbronn University.
