At under 3.5 miles from the A1M, the village benefits from very good travel links to the motorway network. Within 6.5 miles, both Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City have mainline train stations providing the commuter easy, prompt access into London, but closest mainline station is Welwyn North at just 2.5 miles distant.

Educationally, there is a village school for children from 511 years of age. For those wishing to pursue private education, Heath Mount is a coeducational prep school and is a short drive away. For secondary education there is the renowned Haileybury College at Hertford and Sherrardswood School at Welwyn.
