Welcome to our new website, a digital resource that better reflects Michener’s one-of-a-kind brand and value

proposition to our students, our partners and the healthcare system. A unique website for a unique organization.

Responsive Design

Our website now takes advantage of the latest trends in design and function. It’s development using responsive design — making the website experience consistent no matter what device you view it from —

make it easier to access the content our visitors want and need when on the go, at work, in the classroom, and everywhere in between.

Experience-Centric Navigation

From our immersive homepage to selected pages within the site’s content, we’ve made efforts to ensure that our new website provides an improved user experience while keeping navigation intuitive yet innovative.

Access to Compelling Content

Our new website will make it easier for us to share compelling stories and important information — including those about students, partners, alumni, donors and faculty — with our website visitors. We’ve also taken steps to improve the content that’s available to our website visitors, streamlining where we needed to streamline, augmenting where we needed to augment.

Integration with Social Media

Engagement with our social media properties has increased dramatically over the past year and we’re poised to help take our social media channels to the next level, through a better interface and

relationship with our website and its content.

Enhanced User Tools

A new events calendar and improved website display and forms will make it easier for visitors to learn more about Michener, manipulate the information they’re looking for and benefit from easier-to-use interfaces.

Improved Program/Course Search-Ability

We’re not just talking about a website search, but a fulsome program and course search database that allows students and healthcare professionals to easily and quickly research their desired courses and programs, an important feature that operates across both computer and mobile platforms.

Web Accessibility

Our new website is compliant with the Access for Ontarians with Disabilities Act regulations which apply to online

communications. Higher contrast, larger type, more consistent use of tags and other mechanisms are now fully in place, with further enhancements planned going forward.

Part of an Ongoing Evolution

Our new website isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning. We’ll continue to look at ways to enhance the web experience for users through ongoing functionality, design and content

enhancements. Be sure to check back often to see what’s new.

Primary navigation now at the top of the page as user scrolls to each frame on the homepage

Featuring parallax scrolling, now an emerging website practice that involves layers of ‘overlapping’ content frames, the 2nd frame is devoted to sharing the latest

stories and news from and about Michener

Animated frame creates interest and draws visitors to content/features that can be changed/edited with ease

Feature frame creates more interest for two primary audiences: Full/Part Time prospects and CE prospects

Call to Action tabs drive users to specific tasks; these calls to action can be changed as necessary

Footer, consistent across all pages on the site, includes contact info, Google Map, social media tags and acknowledges our principal funder

MOBILE

The website experience is customized to whatever platform the visitor is using, from desktop or laptop, to mobile.

The website ‘responds’ to the type of technology a visitor is using to visit the site; layout and text flows according to tablet devices such as iPads.

Even iPhones and Android phones can display information in an easy to navigate and read format thanks to this responsive technology.

Tours and Events page promotes opportunities for prospects to visit Michener prior to their application or admission

Registering for Admission related events is now even simpler with cleaner navigation and design

Contact forms help attract visitors to inquire or sign up for CE

help draw visitors to specific or more popular content, or the latest course offerings

New customized search tool helps visitors quickly search for courses and programs based on their unique needs, preferences and interests

Landing Page draws visitors into general content about Michener, from information about our history to key departments

New event calendar and registration system makes it easier for visitors to look for, review and sign up for events

The page for the Chiropody Clinic now features easy to find

information for students as well as for clinic clients

Relevant policies are available on the website in a more accessible format

Landing Page draws visitors into information about our unique facilities in the heart of Toronto’s Discovery District

Information about unique features such as our OSCE suites is displayed in a user friendly and easy-to-navigate format

Detailed room specifications are available at a glance using in-page tables

Landing Page is all about appealing to current Michener students

Intramural/sports calendar is embedded in the new website just two clicks away from the

homepage

Job postings are also carried over to the new site and displayed in a more user friendly manner

The Library/LRC pages have robust information including a customized resource search tool

Landing Page for Alumni related content is accessible throughout the site in a more appealing format

The job board for alumni is displayed in a more user friendly format and is easy to find within just a couple of clicks

The Michener Magazine helps keep our alumni informed; access to the Magazine as well as featured content online is now easier than ever

Alumni are able to easily stay

connected with Michener with a sign up form navigable within just a couple of clicks from the homepage

Highlighted navigation helps draw visitors to specific information promoting Michener’s clinical partnerships

Information about global

initiatives and partnerships is now displayed in a more appealing and easy to navigate manner
