The 1200th Anniversary of Koyasan

Entry Guidelines

Dates: May 23 (Sat.) and 24 (Sun.), 2015 (Minimum number of participants required: 170 people)

Organizer: Kobo Trail Running Organizing Committee

(Kongobuji Temple, Kimpusenji Temple, Yoshino Town, Tenkawa Village, Gojo City, Nosegawa Village, Koya Town in Wakayama Prefecture, and Nara Prefecture)

Purpose of the Event: We hope that Kobo Trail 2015 will help people know about Kobo Trail and encourage growth in the surrounding area.

Kobo Trail 2015 is a qualifying race for UTMF and STY.

(“K to K”: 2 points, “D to K”: 1 point)

From Kimpusenji Temple in Yoshinoyama to Kongobuji Temple in Koyasan: 55.7 km (of which 14.7 km, or 26%, is paved)

Maximum number of participants: 100 people Entrance fee:

¥24,000 (including accommodation at a ryokan Japanese style hotel) ¥21,000 (including accommodation at a minshuku private home lodging) (50 vacancies at each)

includes accommodations (one night lodging; two meals, shared rooms separated by sex); baggage transportation, insurance, etc.)

15:00 – 16:00 Registration at Juhoden Hall of Kimpusenji Temple (Yoshinoyama Visitor Center)

16:00 – 16:30 Briefing

17:00 – 17:30 Buddhist service at Zaodo Hall of Kimpusenji Temple 17:30 – 18:00 Starting ceremony

18:00 Lodging check-in, supper, bath 2nd day: May 24, 2015 (Sun.)

5:00 Breakfast

5:30 Check out (Leave baggage at the entrance of the lodging facility) 6:00 Start (From Zaodo Hall of Kimpusenji Temple)

From Dorogawa Onsen (hot spring) in Tenkawa Village to Kongobuji Temple in Koyasan

43.2 km (of which 15.2 km, or 35%, is paved)

Maximum number of participants: 150 people. (including 50 places for non-Japanese) Entrance fee:

¥22,000 (including accommodation at a ryokan Japanese-style hotel),

includes accommodations (one night lodging, two meals, shared rooms separated by sex); bus fare, baggage transportation, insurance, etc.

12:00 – 13:15 Registration at the south exit of Yamato Yagi Station (Kintetsu Railway) 13:30 Depart Yamato Yagi Station by bus

15:00 Arrive at Dorogawa Onsen (hot spring) of Tenkawa Village 15:30 – 16:00 Briefing at Dorogawa Eco Museum Center

16:00 - 16:30 Buddhist service at Ryusenji Temple 18:00 Lodging check-in, supper, bath

Closing times: 16:15 at Tentsuji Pass, 16:45 at Deyashiki Pass,18:00 at Kiwa Tunnel 19:00 at Tenguki Pass, and 20:00 at the finish line

*After dark, please use a headlamp and wear provided reflective materials.

*If you cannot pass each point before its closing time, you will have to stop running. Goal: Konpon Daito Pagoda at Kongobuji Temple, Koyasan

Change of clothes, shower, baggage pickup: Saizen-in Temple (shukubo) Award Ceremony: 16:00 at Saizen-in Temple

Route K to K: Top 3 men finishers and women finishers will be awarded. Route D to K: Top 3 men finishers and women finishers will be awarded.

*The schedule may be subject to change depending on road restrictions, climate, or other conditions

Please note that lodging on the night of May 24th(Sun.) after the race is not included in

the entrance fee. If you are looking for lodging for that night, please inquire with the Nanto Kankosha Company.
