Airfield Ground Lighting Training from ADB

“… All persons involved in any activity, including management and maintenance activities, shall have the appropriate and verifiable training, technical knowledge, experience and qualifications relevant to the specific duties they have to perform. In particular, where involved in work on constant current series circuits, they shall be knowledgeable of the specific risks and the safety procedures involved in the work. …” “Competency should be the major factor in the appointment of personnel and continuous assessment and training of each person should be undertaken to maintain competency levels…”

IEC 61821 Maintenance of aeronautical ground lighting constant current series circuits

“The tasks of maintaining lighting aids should be entrusted only to reliable and skilled electricians who have had experience with high voltage series circuits and lighting.

… Training programs should be established to maintain the competence of maintenance personnel and to keep them abreast of new developments.”

Optimize your Airside Operations Performance

ADB’s technological excellence and product reliability can only be realised if our partners are truly focused on competency management at every stage of the life cycle of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL): from the preliminary design stage to the effective operation of an airport.

For airports worldwide, regular training of maintenance and service personnel is imperative in improving their airside operations performance: not only is AGL technology continuously evolving, requiring periodic updates of know-how, but there is also a clear need to bring maintenance performance to pre-defined levels, in accordance with international standards and regulations such as ICAO, IEC and FAA.

Our courses and competence development programs equip organizations like yours and AGL users at every level of their career, with the appropriate tools to stay relevant in airfield ground lighting.

Twelve Modular Packages

ADB offers dedicated Training Seminars to meet these demands and to support airports in reaching their goals. Through its unequalled experience in the AGL industry, ADB is able to provide the right combination of theoretical context, mixed with a very pragmatic approach on the practical aspects of AGL maintenance.

ADB offers twelve modular courses which are organized periodically every year allowing participation either per single module or in consecutive modules. In addition, ADB offers customized courses specifically tailored to individual requirements. These customized courses are designated AGLPlus4.

Skill enhancement: ADB Competence Management Program

With the needs for competence within your maintenance organization constantly evolving due to people turnover, technology changes, and modification of standards, making sure your people have the right skills at the right moment can pose a huge challenge.

ADB’s Competence Management Programs (CMP) is designed to support airports maintenance organizations optimize their skills.

The Competence Management Program is implemented in different phases: ■

■ Definition of skills objective: together with your maintenance team management, we define the objective in terms of level required for each equipment (basic, advanced, expert) as well as the number of people required per level ■

■ Assessment of current situation: through specifically designed questionnaires and tests, we evaluate the vcurrent competence of your people. At the end of this first process, we gain a clear view (as shown on the picture) of the existing gaps between your objectives and the current skills of your maintenance team.

■ Training program definition: based on the previous analysis, we design a dedicated training program, covering all topics to be addressed in order to close the gap

■ Training delivery: once the program is set, we work with you to organize the schedule of the training courses. At the end of each session, tests and evaluations are made to make sure that the identified gaps are addressed

■ Follow-up: as competences need to be monitored and maintained, ADB can regularly review the skills of your personnel. When deviations are identified, we propose remedial actions, such as refresher courses. This also allows you to address people turnover issues.
