Confirmation Prayers 2018

Heavenly Father, Bless us and the ones we love. Help guide the ones who are less fortunate. Thank you for the gifts of life and happiness. Thank you for sacrificing your only Son for us. Please guide us in the right direction as we continue the journey of life. Help us to live in a way that shows others your love for the world. In your name we pray. Amen.

Sky Bell and Kathy Pretzer

Dear God, First of all, I wanted to thank you for leading me to Hayes Barton and opening my life up to You. I have been a part of the church for as long as I can remember and have made life long friends thanks to You. One of my most fond memories with the youth group, is when I went on SLAM Nashville and became closer to You, felt Your presence and Your everlasting love. Listening to older people’s testimonies on how You made such a drastic impact on their lives through thick and thin was so eye opening. Growing up is hard, and having a platform as strong as Hayes Barton has helped tremendously. I am so grateful to have been blessed with Mary Covington, Emily, Davis and Josh. Thank you for Your endless love and for placing such amazing people in my life when I needed it most. Love You so much! Amen.

Emily Bolen and Mary Covington Coleman

Dear God, thank you for all you do for us. We are thankful for your love. Please be with those in need around the world and keep them safe as you have done for us. I love you and thank you. Amen.

Carter Brugh and Chris Crabtree

Dear God, You are holy and powerful. We want to be a part of your work in our world. Provide for those who need. Forgive us from our sins and help us to be able to forgive other people. Watch over us each day of our lives. You are always and you are forever. Amen.

Kelly Byrd and Shawn Huggins

Dear Lord, Thank you for leading me into a life following Christ. Through this confirmation experience, I have devoted myself to you and your holy ways. Please help future confirmands to have as great of an experience with

confirmation and their mentors as I have had. I pray for you to continue to help me be more like Jesus and to bring others closer to you. Amen.

(8)

Lord, Thank you for teaching us how to listen to you and thank you for listening to us. Thank you for giving us your son, Jesus, and helping us learn about him and the Holy Spirit. Please help us stay safe and focused on you. Please help those in need and remind us how blessed we all are. Amen.

Paul Carr and Drew Stokley

Heavenly Father, You help everyone and have created everything. We ask for peace for people to live easily with everything they need. Though you all things are possible. Amen.

Jack Cline and Seth Yearout

Dear God, Thank you for friends and family, the environment, and food, water, and shelter. Thank you for the opportunities we are fortunate enough to have. Forgive us when we not lived in harmony and peace with our neighbors. Help us to be present with those in need, and help us all care for your creation. Help me to radiate your kindness to the world, and bless us all as we go into the week. In your name we pray. Amen.

Natalie Clyburn and Laura Kirby

Dear Lord,

Thank you for being faithful and staying with me. Your love helps me especially through the tough times. When I am weak, you help me to be strong. I pray that my relationship with you will always grow and that your word will teach me how to live a faithful life unto you.

Hugh Collie and David Coster

Dear God, thank you for bringing us together to learn more about you and I thank you for giving me a wonderful mentor to help me. This journey has helped my faith in so many ways and reassured your presence in my life. Please help me to stay on the path that you are creating for me and help me to continue my journey of faith. Dear Lord, forgive me of my sins and I thank you for this opportunity I’ve been given through my church. I can’t wait to continue spreading my faith to others and continue worshiping you! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Gracie Davis and Suzzette Acree

Dear God thank you for the sacrifice of your son so we could be confirmed to one day meet you in heaven. Thank you for forgiving our sins and wrongdoings, we praise you. Amen.

(9)

Dear God, Please help me find my calling in life and keep me motivated to do good in the world. I know your work is not finished and that you will guide me through my ups and downs. You have a plan in store for me and I have faith in you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Emily DeRonja and Catie Burnette

Dear God, Thank you for letting my friends and me spend time with You these past few weeks and learn more about You. It’s helped us strengthen our

relationship with You and each other, which is what this has been all about. In the past, I haven’t taken the time to think about your impact on me and others, but now I know about the unconditional and persistent love you have that shows itself everywhere and in everyone. I hope I can continue this journey with you and keep this love in my heart forever. Amen.

Claire Ellis and Amy Mattheis

Dear Lord, I am so thankful for this opportunity to grow in my faith and explore how I can serve you better. Thank you for my mentor Joelyn Harrington and for Lisa Marie Ferrell. Please help me honor this commitment and continue growing in my faith. Amen.

Lilly Grace Fountain and Joelyn Harrington

Dear God, Thank you for this wonderful place and the people that you have provided in my life. You have changed my life by leading me on the correct path that is best for me. Thank you for helping me during a tough time and listening to me sometimes when I don’t think you are listening. I always think to myself about the Lord’s Prayer that you spoke and I thank you for that because it gives me a different view on how great you are. I want to thank you for all that you have done for me and all that you have taught me. Amen.

Luke Fuller and Jay Risinger

Lord, thank you for bringing us together today. We are ever grateful for the many blessings in our lives, from the relationships with friends and family to the

opportunities we have to serve you. Help us to quiet our minds so that we may hear you, Lord, above the distractions we face everyday. Give us the wisdom to make good decisions and the patience to accept your timing as we live and love and serve others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

(10)

Dear God, Thank you for bringing us all together today to worship you. We pray that we grow closer to you today and heal those of us that are sick and comfort those of us that are struggling, and continue to guide us in our daily decisions. Thank you for all you do for us. In Your name we pray. Amen.

Parker Harvey and Sarah Flinn

Dear Lord, thank you for all that you do for us. Thank you for every blessing you send down to us, thank you for my family and my friends. Thank you for your unconditional love and forgiveness. Help us to be better people and to be more Christ-like. Thank for the opportunity of me being able to be confirmed and to worship you in my life. I will continue to worship you and ask for your guidance. In your name we pray. Amen.

Mary Hauser and Lisa Marie Ferrell

Dear God,

Thank you for giving us the time to get to know you. Thank you for putting things on this planet to help us live. Thank you for letting us come to you when we need it the most. Amen.

Sanford Kelley and Ken Crockett

Dear God, Thank you for giving me this opportunity to make my own promises once made by others. Please provide your guiding presence in each challenge that I face and give me strength to overcome temptation. May your Holy Spirit confirm me and allow me to grow in faith, and draw me even more into the fellowship of the church. Thank for the blessing of having my aunt as my mentor during this journey. I would also like to thank my family for showing the way and providing me love and support in everything I do. I can’t wait to continue

worshipping you. In your name we pray. Amen.

Anna Katherine Kindem and Anne Rogers

Dear Lord; Let us be one with you. Let us gain a deeper understanding of your kindness and compassion. Let us love and serve others. Thank you for forgiving us of our sins and loving us for who we are. Amen.

Parker King and Elizabeth Cates

Dear God, Please help us have a good day, with few disappointments. But if disappointments come, give us the strength to continue. Give us the courage and energy we need to do our best and give our all today. Please help us become

(11)

stronger in our spiritual lives so we can face the stress and discomforts we may face. Help us to pray, study your word and not be afraid to ask for help. Please bless our friends and family and keep them safe. Be with and comfort the friends and family of the victims of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting. In Jesus’ name – Amen.

Avery Lloyd and Ret Boney

Dear God, Thank you for all our many blessings and for this time with you in service. Help us open our hearts and minds to fully connect with you. Please bless all of our church and those in need, and help us be a part of that blessing in fellowship and love. We ask this all in your name. Amen.

Wilder Lowrance and David Dyer

Dear Lord, Thank you for this day. Thank you for me, my family, and my friends. I ask you to help anyone in the world who is hurt and needs help. Help us to do our part wherever we are to fix the wrongs in the world. Thank you. Amen.

Nathan Lund and Matt Kirby

Dear God, Help us open our hearts to what matters. Cleanse our minds and souls of sins and help us all realize fame and fortune don’t matter- our faith and devotion to you is what matters most. Lift up all our Public Service and military

professionals so they all can return to their loved ones safely. In your name we humbly pray. Amen.

Tres Malpass and Bill Stephenson

Dear God, thank you for allowing us to go through this journey and be an instrument of your love. God, strengthen us with your gifts to love and serve as your disciple. Fill us with the joy of your presence. Dear God, increase in us the fruit of your spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding; the spirit of love, patience and gentleness. Help us to pass it on by our example. In your loving name we pray. Amen.

Martha Grace May and Denise Stephenson

Dear God, Thank you for watching over us and your world. Thank you for sending your Son to set an example and to show us how we can be more like You. Please continue helping and guiding us through Your Holy Spirit, who pushes us to do the right thing. Guide us into eternal life. Amen.

(12)

Dear Father in heaven, Blessed be your name! You are righteous and faithful in all you do. The works of your hands are perfect and your creation reflects your glory. Forgive us of our sins, and help us to live the life you intended for us to live and created us for, an eternal relationship with you. Thank you for giving your innocent and sinless son in our place so that we can be forgiven of our sins and have a restored fellowship with you. Thank you also for the gift of your Holy Spirit and how He guides us in our daily lives. Have mercy on us and on those that do not know you. May they come to know you and trust your Son, Jesus, as their Savior. Amen.

Will Morris and Warren McNeill

Dear God, Thank you for this day and everything that you have bestowed upon us. Thank you for this journey where we get to learn more about you. Thank you for this life we get to live. Please give us perseverance to handle all of the challenges that we face as we strive to show your love to the world. Give your peace to those around us. In your holy name we pray. Amen.

Jax Nicholson and Harrison Gillette

Dear Lord, You are always faithful and give us unconditional love. Thank you for blessing us with this opportunity to learn more about you and your wonderful ways of working through us. This time together has allowed us to grow deeper in our faith and we are thankful. Thank you for being beside us every day. We

appreciate all the gifts that you give us daily. You give us everything we need and give us grace when we often fall short. Help us to use our gifts to help and serve others and above all use our gifts for your glory. We ask for you to continue to watch over all of us and help us to set aside more time to spend with you. Please help to keep us healthy and safe. In your name we pray. Amen.

Callie Oxford and Lisa Coster

Dear God, Thank you for giving up your one Son for the rest of humanity. Thank you for Your faith in me and the world as a whole. We will praise you on earth, and one day in heaven. Amen.

Lila Parker and Emily Newman

Dear God, Thank you for every little and big thing you do for us - even though we don’t notice it right away. Thank your for giving us everything we NEED. Your gifts of the Trinity are eternal blessings and although we may fall short, you still love us. And at the times when we steer away from you, we will always crawl back to you, and you will greet us with open arms. Thank you for this wonderful

(13)

confirmation experience that deepened our friendship and brought us closer to you. Thank you for your reassurance and promise of our future. And thank you for shining the light at the end of our tunnel. Amen.

Sydney Potter and Catherine Lackey

Dear Lord, Thank you for this day and opportunity to be with You. Help us to find agreement in our greatest disagreements. And if we cannot find agreement, let us reach compromise. Teach us to be kinder and happier individuals. Allow us to find greater understanding of the role You want us to play in your world. In your name we pray. Amen.

Ryan Pretzer and Sean Timmons

Dear Lord, you are almighty and all knowing; the creator and sustainer. Thank you for many the ways you’ve poured out your blessing on this congregation and community. Thank you for the grace and mercy offered to us through your son Jesus Christ. We confess that we are sinners and that we need you, Lord. You created us in your image and have given us all we need to carry your love into the world; to be a blessing to others. Help us to live in and through you this week. Help us to recognize you and your love. Thank you and we love you. Amen.

Owen Ragsdale and Brad Breeding

Dear God, Thank you for all that you do for me. There are times when I do not understand what is going on around me. It is easy to become distracted by my activities and forget that everything that has been given to me is a result of your love. As we approach Easter, it is now time that we stopped to remember all that you have done for us. It is now time that we should stop and consider if we are making the best use of our time and resources for your glory. Please help me to constantly show my love for you. Amen.

Nicholas Rose and Davis Coster

Dear loving almighty God, you are powerful and trustworthy. Please forgive me for not always putting others first and to be even more respect to my family. Thank you for my family and friends. Thank you for always being there for me and always leading me down the right path. Thank you for loving us and being someone we can trust. Lord, please lift up families with losses and in bad

situations. Please pray for the people in the military and for the sick and homeless people. In your name we pray. Amen.

(14)

Dear God, Thank You for all you’ve done during confirmation. This experience has helped me grow in my relationship with You. Thank You for guiding me through hard times, some of which I could not have made it through on my own. Help me to continue to increase in my understanding of who You are. Help me to find time to be with You. Please show me opportunities to share what I’ve learned about You with other people. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lilly Smith and Melanie Tharrington

Dear Lord, Thank you for this beautiful day and for keeping us safe. Please lift up the worries of our heart and let us know you’re with us and know your will will be done. Please forgive us for all our sins. Please lift up all those who have been affected by all of the violence in the world we and know we love you. In your name. Amen.

Sloan Smith and Cammie Dyer

Dear Lord, Thank you for guiding me through your Scripture. You affect every decision I make. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Lydie Spear and Barb McNeill

Dear Lord, I pray that you will keep my peers and me safe and that today will be a beautiful day, so that we can reflect on the perfect creation you made. I pray that you can guide me further in my Christian faith and so I can become closer to you. I thank you for this Confirmation experience and guiding me through this process. Amen.

Baylor Stephenson and Bo Walker

Dear God, like Peter on the night of Jesus’ betrayal, the night before His crucifixion, we sometimes feel tempted to run away from standing up for

You and for what is right. Forgive us our weakness, Lord, and strengthen us with your Spirit so that we can be like Peter on Pentecost: disciples who will stand up for You no matter what the cost, all the time encouraged by knowing that Jesus--He who God raised from the dead--is behind us every step of the way. Amen.

Sam Stickney and Jack Lloyd

Dear Holy and gracious Lord, I have sinned and ask for your forgiveness. Thank you for creating this beautiful world. Thank you for sending our Savior to forgive our sins. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help me to grow closer to you. In Christ’s name. Amen.

(15)

We your people thank your for allowing us to come together and worship you today. There are many worries and concerns that we ask you to take away and go to work on these items. We are grateful for everything you have given us and ask guidance through our week, Lord. Amen.

Judson Thompson and Major Lackey

Dear Heavenly Father, You created the earth and everything on it and you gave it to us, how terribly we have failed you. Our world is broken and I don’t know what to do to help make even a small change. I need guidance to tell me what to do and assurance to know that everything will eventually turn out right. Give me the strength to do what you call me to do. In your name we pray. Amen.

Josh Trexler and Sally Bates

Heavenly Father:

Thank you for this opportunity to meet my mentor, to reflect on my faith, and to affirm my beliefs in Jesus Christ. I am happy to be joining HBUMC and I look forward to serving the Lord in this place and in my community. Amen.

Hunter Tuttle and Tim Crawford

Dear Lord, thank you for giving us the chance to learn more about you through this journey of Confirmation. Please give us the strength to continue learning from and about you. Our time spent together reading from your word and discussing our faith journey, has been valuable. Please be with us as we strive to live our lives in the way Jesus teaches. Amen.

Ryan Von Weihe and Fil Stidham

Dear Lord, We thank you for guiding us through this journey of confirmation together. We appreciate all of the lessons you have taught us and hope to

continue to build on them as we grow in our faith. We are forever thankful that you sent your Son to Earth so that he could forgive us our sins and show us what true love looks like. Thank you for the gift of everlasting life with you and Jesus in Heaven. We ask that you look after those in our community and around the world who need your love and grace. Also, help us to be great examples of you to those around us in our daily lives. Amen.
