PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Vanderbilt University, Blair School of Music, Nashville TN 2012-present

Associate Professor (Tenure Track) and Director of Choral Activities

•! Artistic direction and oversight of a program that includes three curricular university choral

ensembles and a precollege children’s chorus with over 200 singers. Conductor of the Vanderbilt Chorale, Vanderbilt’s premier vocal ensemble; and Artistic Director of the Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir, dedicated to performing major works with the Vanderbilt Orchestra.

•! Director of the MA-5 Teacher Education Program, a five-year music education program in

conjunction with Peabody College at Vanderbilt. Music Education students are integrated as teaching assistants throughout the ensembles in Blair’s precollege music program. Duties include curriculum design, general oversight, student advising, and recruiting.

•! Instructor of Choral Conducting, Seminar in Choral Literature, and Methods and Materials in Choral

Music.

•! Created the annual Choral Prism concert, featuring performances by curricular and non-curricular

ensembles at Vanderbilt. This concert event has become the highest attended student performance of the Blair concert calendar. Repertory has included Creation (Haydn), Chichester Psalms (Bernstein), Schicksalslied (Brahms), Requiem (Fauré), Triptych (O’Regan), and Mass of the Children (Rutter), as well as a lecture-concert on the music of Robert Shaw and Alice Parker, a centenary celebration of Benjamin Britten, and a lecture-concert of Ariel Ramirez’s Misa Criolla in partnership with Vanderbilt’s Center for Latin American Studies.

•! Recipient of the 2014 Excellence in Teaching Award, presented to one Blair faculty member each year.

(2007, Orlando FL) and division (2008, Louisville KY) level

•! Voted ‘Teacher of the Year’ in 2008
