Greetings from the Principal,

Thanks to everyone who helped make our year-long raffle such a success!! Students who sold all or more than 15 tickets have special dress down passes for them to use.

Tomorrow our 9

th

grade will be completing Safety and CPR training.

Try-outs for Beauty and the Beast are tomorrow as well right after school.

Thursday is Trunk or Treat night from 6:00-7:30 on the parking lot! Everyone is welcome☺

On this Friday we will have our Halloween Party/Dance for students in Grades 4-8. There will be games, music, food, and lots of fun! Plus winners of scariest, most creative,

funniest, and glamourous costumes!! The party is from 6:00-9:00 in the gym and cafeteria.

Help is still needed with food, games, and decorating. Call me today!

Pumpkin Decorating will be next week. Pumpkins may be brought in Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday with the judging on Wednesday. All pumpkins need to be taken home by Friday, November 1

Our Friends from Lexington Catholic have been working on a special partnership with Holy Family. They are coming to visit on Tuesday, October 29

for a presentation and will also tour ACTC to learn about our Collegiate High School Program.

The time changes the weekend of November 2

rd

so no shorts are to be worn after that until spring!

We have a flyer coming home today about cheerleading. Please complete and return ASAP☺

We will have a test over sections 3.1-3.4 on Wednesday.

We will then begin working with polygons. Weekly algebra quiz will be on Monday.

We will have a test over parabolas on Thursday. We will then work with completing the square. Weekly algebra quiz will be on Tuesday.

MRS. ACKERSON’S STREAM CLASSROOM NEWS FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 21, 2019

GRADES 3, 4, & 5

Will be designing and building a kite from plastic straws and other household materials.

You will work with one or two partners. Teams are encouraged to make non-traditional designs

GRADES 6 th – 10 th

Will be designing a delivery system called "Down the Chute". The delivery system will transport a marble 5 feet across the room into a bottle. Project must be free-standing and not attached to the bottle in any way.

Groups will be made up of no more than three and the groups

must use the materials provided.

*Vehicles are decorated and candy will be passed out to trick-or-treaters.

*Prizes for the “Best Class Trunk” & “Best Individual Trunk” will be awarded!

*Vehicles need to be in the parking lot by 5:15 please.

2019-2020 HOLY FAMILY ARCHERY INFORMATION

October 14, 2019 Dear Students and Parents,

All students in 4th grade to 12th grade may participate on the Holy Family Archery Team. The 2019-2020 Archery Permission Slip/Medical Release form is attached along with the Kentucky National Archery In The Schools (NASP) School Waiver.

Please sign both documents and return to school by Thurs., Oct. 24, 2019. I have to enter all students into the NASP website by October 31, 2019.

We practice on Friday from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm in the gym. Please note that YOU MUST come into the gym at 4:30 pm to pick your student up. To be buzzed into the school you must enter thru the PLAYGROUND DOORS. (door between the gym and the church) There is no one in the office to answer the 10

th

Street door after 3:15 pm.

We will have at least 2 practice tournaments in January or February. These dates are not available at this time. The Regional Tournament date has not been posted but is usually in March. Uniform shirt may be purchased at practice for $10.00.

To be able to have an Archery Team we must have a minimum of 12 students and maximum of 24 of which four must be of the opposite sex. Students can participate as individuals if we do not have enough for a team. There is an Elementary Team, Middle School Team and High School Team if there are enough students. We are allowed to move students UP to a higher team but they cannot go DOWN.

All students are now participating during Physical Education Class in the NASP curriculum. All 4th Graders and new students must complete this instruction before they can attend practice. Practices are as follows:

Pizza and snacks are available for sale during practice. Pizza-$1 a slice, drinks-$.50 chips-$.25.

Parent Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement National Archery in the Schools Program®

Regional/State/National Tournament and the NASP®/IBO 3D Challenge

KyNASP® State Tournament – March 13-14, Louisville, KY National - May 7-9, Louisville, KY

In consideration and exchange for the opportunity of my child being allowed to participate in the 2019-20 National Archery in the Schools Program® (NASP®) Regional/State/National Tournament and the NASP®/IBO 3D Challenge, I agree as follows:

(1) I am the Legal Guardian of ________________________________ who has qualified for and is being allowed to participate in the 2019-20 NASP® Regional/State/National Tournament and the NASP®/IBO 3D Challenge;

(2) On behalf of my spouse, minor child, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby waive, release and forever discharge the NASP®, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers and sponsors from legal liability any and all actions, suits, damages, claims or judgments for damages or expenses that may result from any personal injury, loss of property or property damage, or any other claim, demand, action or right of action, of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, regardless of fault, arising from or by reason of my child being allowed to participate and compete in the 2019-20 NASP® Regional/State/National Tournament and the NASP®/IBO 3D Challenge;

(3) In consenting or releasing for my minor child, I (we) do further hereby agree to protect the NASP®, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers and sponsors, against any actions, claims or demands by said minor child or by any other person or persons on account of damages of any character resulting in any way from said minor child’s participation and competing in the 2019-20 NASP® Regional/State/National Tournament and the NASP® IBO/3D Challenge. We also hereby agree to reimburse and make good to the NASP® any loss, damage or costs it may have to pay as a result of any such action, claim or demand;

(4) Should it be required during the tournament, I acknowledge that I authorize medical treatment of my child by a qualified medical professional;

(5) I acknowledge I have been advised and made aware that there will be photographers and videographers at the event taking photos of participants during competition, and that I consent to allow NASP® to take pictures of my child and to use any photos, videos or likenesses of my child in future events or promotional efforts without compensation;

(6) I, the undersigned, further expressly agree that the foregoing release, waiver and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broad as inclusive as is permitted by law, and that if any portion of it is held invalid by the appropriate court of competent jurisdiction, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect;

(7) I, the releasor, have read and voluntarily sign this release and waiver of liability and indemnity agreement, and further agrees that no oral representations, statements or inducements apart from the foregoing written agreement have been made;

(8) I, the releasor, further state that I am of lawful age, am legally competent, and have full legal authority to sign this affirmation and release on behalf of my minor child; that I understand the terms herein are contractual and not a mere recital; and that I have signed this document as my own free act;

(9) I, the releasor, have fully informed myself of the contents of this affirmation, waiver and release by reading it before signing it with full knowledge of its significance, intending to be legally bound thereby; and

(10) I, the releasor, agree that should any lawsuit or other action, regardless of the nature of the claim arise under this agreement, it shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction within the Sheboygan, WI and tried without a jury.

All parties to this agreement hereby submit to the jurisdiction of such courts.
