Return to Practise Guidelines

Introduction:

These guidelines are intended to assist with the safe and successful return to group speed skating training at Panorama Recreation for the Peninsula Speed Skating Club members,

parents/guardians and volunteers during the Covid -19 Pandemic. As we transition through the various phases these guidelines maybe redefined accordingly.

Personal Hygiene

:

 Respiratory etiquette is to be followed at all times, ie: cough into your arm/sleeve.

Along with zero tolerance and strict enforcement of “No- Spitting”

 It is recommended that non-skaters wear non-medical masks, and all skaters and coaches should wear non-medical masks pre and post practise sessions while within the arena.

 Hand sanitizer will be available at various locations throughout the arena, and all members are strongly encouraged to practised Hand Hygiene regularly.

There is to be NO SHARING of equipment, water bottles and/or personal items at any time during practise.

Environmental Hygiene:

 The high touch surfaces/areas within the arena, dressing rooms and lobby will be regularly sanitized by Panorama’s staff.

 The clubs safety mats, will be moved to and from the ice surface by designated person(s) wearing mandatory non-medical masks. The mats will be placed on and removed from the ice surface by designated persons wearing mandatory non-medical masks. All persons involved in the moving of the mats are required to wash/sanitize their hands before and after moving the mats.

 In the event of a skater making contact with a safety mat while skating, the safety mat will be wiped down with a sanitizing wipe, which will then be discarded into a closed container for proper disposal upon leaving the ice surface.

 Entrance and departure areas from the ice surface will be regularly sanitized by the arena staff.

 Only coaches and coaching assistants will be permitted to move and restore the location of track markers.

 All water bottles are required to have an attached top, which covers the mouth piece on the water bottle. No loose twist off caps.

If you are Sick: Stay Home

 All skaters are required to complete a self-assessment at home prior to arrival at any practise. If you have signs of illness or flu like symptoms or cough, fever, shortness of breath or have been in contact with a person who has and or has been tested for COVID-19 STAY HOME.

 Any person arriving at a club practise with signs or symptoms of illness will be asked to leave. The club will be enforcing Zero Tolerance for participation while sick.

Social Distancing:

 Maintaining Social Distancing is to be encouraged.

 A maximum of 20 skaters at one time will currently be permitted on the ice surface.

Only Peninsula Speed Skating Club members will be permitted to attend practises.

 Parents/guardians are encouraged to regularly review social distancing expectations with their skaters. On ice visual aides will be used when instruction and or activities are occurring. IE: skaters will social distance around the centre ice circle for instruction and rest periods. Skaters may be required to social distance using the track markers

locations. Skaters will be reminded to maintain social distancing while preforming drills and activities.

Arrival and Departure at the Arena:

All user groups must be in the dressing rooms a maximum of 30 minutes prior to their ice time and a minimum of 15 minutes prior their ice time.

The main arena doors will be used for entry only

Logistics

each group will be assigned dressing rooms in Arena A or Arena B, based on their booking. A sign will be in the arena lobby to indicate which rooms are assigned.

User group 1 will enter through the main doors and will use dressing rooms in Arena B.

They will enter and exit the ice from the north gate (furthest from the arena entrance).

Upon completion of the session, user group will exit though door 12.

User group 2 will enter through the main doors and will use dressing rooms in Arena A.

They will enter and exit the ice from the south gate (closest to the arena entrance).

Upon completion of the session, user group will exit though door 15 in arena A.

Dressing room keys will NOT be used.

The Equipment manager(s) will maintain a dated attendance log of attendees during practise, including that of coaches, skaters and parents/guardians. The completed sheet is to be placed and stored in a binder titled ” Attendance Log” in the event of a Case or Outbreak the attendance log may be referenced by Public Health as required.



Arena Guidelines:

2 dressing rooms available per user group with a third available for mixed gender groups upon request. Maximum change room space:

o Arena A dressing rooms = 6 people o Arena A female dressing room = 2 people o Arena B dressing rooms = 8 people

• Spectators: seats will not be available. All spectators are responsible to physical distance 2 metres with others. With limited capacity, recommended that user groups only allow one guardian per child on the ice for youth groups.

• Shower facilities are not available

• Touchless water bottle filler available in arena lobby.

• Vending machines will be available with enhanced cleaning.

• All ice activities must include safely- spaced activities and may not include hockey games or activities that include contact between individuals.

• Enhanced cleaning of touch points in dressing rooms will be completed between user groups by Panorama staff.

• Enhanced cleaning of touch surfaces in main arena lobby, Arena B and washrooms (3 times daily)

• Cleaning of dressing room touch surfaces between user groups

Come prepared:

 All skaters are required to arrive dressed to participate ( arrive wearing your skin and or kelvar suit). Neck Guard, safety glasses, knee and shin pads.

 All skaters are to ensure skating equipment (skates, helmet, gloves) are

contained within a skate bag. Any removed articles of clothing should be placed in the skate bag.

Water bottles MUST have an attached covered top, any water bottles left behind after practise will be discarded. Must be clearly labelled with your name.

All skaters are encouraged to use the washroom prior to entering the ice surface.

 Skates guards are to be removed prior to entering the ice surface, and given to their parent/guardian. Alternatively skaters may place their guards into the

“guard bucket” All skate guards placed in the guard bucket are to be sanitized by their user immediately following the practise, after leaving the facility.

In the Event that a Case or Outbreak Should Occur:

 An attendance log will be kept for each practie by the Equipment Manager(s) and stored in a binder. The Attendance Log may be referenced by Public Health as required.

 At any time should a member begin to feel unwell during a practise, they are to advise the Coach immediately and leave the ice surface. They will be required to don a non- medical face mask as soon as possible. They are NOT to return to the dressing room to collect their belongs. Rather their parent/guardian is to retrieve their “skate bag” and items of clothing from the dressing room.

 They will be required to leave the arena via the designated departure door as soon as possible.

NO SKATERS, PARENTS/GUARDIANS, COACHES, or Club Members will be permitted to enter the facility without having previously signed a Participant Agreement, in addition to reviewing all of the required Return to Practise Guidelines.
