Nativity of St. John the Baptist 2018 June 24, 2018
From the Desk of Fr. Mark..
I will make you a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth. (Isaiah 49.6)
Our parishes shine the light of Christ for our neighbors and friends.
As we mourn those who are harmed by acts of violence we can offer support, security and hope to those around us. I am convinced that active and vibrant parishes offer alternatives for young people (and adults as well) so that all can develop their giftedness and not be drawn into dangerous lifestyles. As we build up families in faith, we also create safer neighborhoods.
Thanks for your support of Prayer and Action. Last week our second group of nearly 40 teens worked and prayed in our
neighborhoods. We have more groups to come so if you need some work done, call the office. Also, if you happen to encounter one of these young people be sure to give them a hearty welcome!
Our fiscal year ends in one week on June 30 and we still have some unpaid bills from this past year. If you are a contributor who gives your offering a few times a year, NOW would be a wonderful time so we can meet our budget for this year. Thank you for your year-round generosity that sustains the parish!

Marriage Minute June 24, 2018 The Cross of Infertility
This weekend we celebrate the birth of John the Baptist, a miraculous child born to parents who
bore the heavy burden of infertility for many years. God answered Elizabeth and Zachariah’s
prayers, but there are likely couples you know who are still waiting for their answer. Here is how
you can help:
• Don’t give advice unless asked.
• Acknowledge their suffering and offer to lis- ten.
• Be sensitive regarding baby or child-related events.
• Continue to pray and let your friend know you are praying.
If you are in the midst of this struggle yourself, we know there are no easy answers. We join you in prayer with this weekend’s psalm: For you are my hope, O LORD; my trust, O LORD, from my
youth.
Keeler Women’s Center, a ministry of the Bene- dictine Sisters is located at 2220 Central Ave., KCK. All programs and services are free. Dona- tions are welcome.
