Mission Statement

We, the people of Three Holy Women Catholic Parish, rooted in the Roman Catholic faith, honor the traditions of our diverse parish, and come together as a family of faith, worship and service.

Knowing that we are loved by God and guided by the Spirit, we strive to be the welcoming voice and the serving hands of Jesus, spreading His love within the East Side community and beyond,

T

hree Holy Women Catholic Parish honors the heritage of its mother churches through its logo.

The encircling rosary represents the crown of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary.

The sacred thorn imprint on the forehead of St. Rita of Cascia is symbolized by a crown of thorns.

The Royal crown turned down by St.

Hedwig becomes the Eucharistic table of our faith community.

Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

As we prepare to say farewell to Fr. Mike and welcome to Fr. John, I would like to share this beautiful

reflection on the priesthood by the theologian Karl Rahner, SJ:

“The Priest is not an angel sent from heaven.

He is a man chosen from among men, a member of the Church, a Christian.

Remaining man and Christian, he begins to speak to you the Word of God.

This Word is not his own. No he comes to you because God has told him to proclaim God’s Word.

Perhaps he has not entirely understood it himself.

Perhaps he adulterates it. But he believes, and despite his fears he knows that he must

communicate God’s Word to you.

For must not some one of us say something about God, about Eternal Life, about the majesty of grace in our sanctified being, must not someone of us speak of sin, the judgement and mercy of God?

So my dear friends, pray for him. Carry him so that he might be able to sustain others by bringing to

them the mystery of God’s love revealed in Christ Jesus.”

Have a blessed week!

Sincerely, with love,

Fr. Tim

Volunteers Needed for GNA Prep Day: Saturday, June 16

We are so excited to kick off Good News Adventure, our fun, free, faith-filled summer camp, but we need a lot of help to get ready for the kids! Can you come lend a hand? We will be gathering in the Catholic

East school gym (2461 N Murray Ave) from 9:00 am-Noon on Saturday, June 16 to move furniture, sort supplies and decorate. We have a lot to do, but many hands make light work, so please come whenever you are able. Can’t make it Saturday? We also need help from some energetic folks to carry supplies into place on Thursday, June 14 at 5:30 pm. To RSVP for Moving Day, please contact Anh Clausen at [email protected].

Reflecting on the Sunday Readings

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God remains forever.” - Isaiah 40:8 We invite anyone interested in examining, reflecting on and praying with the Scriptures in a

small group setting to join us from 7:00-8:30 pm on Monday,

June 18 in the Old Saint Mary Parish Center (835 N Milwaukee St). Come get a head start on the

coming Sunday readings, and please contact our Director of Adult Faith Formation, Chad Griesel with any questions at

[email protected] or 271-6180.

To All Our Parishioners

Your contribution to the Combined Collections: The Church in the United States aids the work of the National Religious Retirement Office, Catholic Communication Campaign, Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic University of America and Black and Indian Mission. You will receive information in your mail about these

collections. Please be generous in your support. You may mail in your contribution or bring it to Mass the weekend of June 9-10, 2018.

Attention 4:30 pm Mass Attendees -

We are in real need of ushers at the 4:30 pm Mass. Feeling welcome and wanted when people come to church is one of the key reasons people choose a church to return to or join a parish. We have a history of making people feel welcome at our churches, and we would like to

continue that tradition. In order to do that, we need people who are willing to get to church a little early and greet people when they come into church, answer questions, take up the collection and hand out bulletins. We need at least 4-5 more people to step forward to be ushers at the 4:30 pm Mass on Saturdays. Please contact Mary Robertson at [email protected] or 271-6577 if you can

participate in Mass this way. It is a great way for families to serve our community, and it’s a great way to meet other parishioners. Please consider joining this important ministry. We NEED you!

PBS Special

The PBS Special about Milwaukee’s Italian history that features St. Rita Church will be shown on Channel 10/PBS at 9:00 pm on Thursday, June 21. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about our city that includes an interview with Fr. Tim Kitzke!
