Lemonade

Parent Cue • Preschool • Week of May 24th
WHAT YOU NEED:
Paper plates, crayons, green construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, pencil
WHAT YOU DO:
Trace your child’s hand on the green construction paper and cut it out, or have child cut it out if able. Color the paper plate blue. Glue paper hand to the center of the plate. Draw a heart in the middle of their hand cutout.
WHAT YOU SAY:
“In our story, we learned that God loves me and you, and everyone in the whole wide world! God loves the world so much that He gave us Jesus to be
our friend forever. Who loves you? God loves me.”

What You Need: clear plastic pitcher, sugar, water, large spoon, small plastic cups, and lemonade
mix
What Your Do: Make the lemonade according to the directions on the lemonade mix. Be sure to
show and explain each step of the process to the children.
What You Say: Let’s make lemonade together! First, I need to add the sugar. (Pause.) Next, I add
the lemonade mix and water. (Pause.) That looks yummy! (stir the lemonade). Who would like a cool drink of lemonade? (Pause and serve lemonade.) That is so good! While you drink your lemonade, could you please take all of the sugar out of it? (Pause.) What? You can’t take out just the sugar? (Pause.) Okay, then let’s all take out the water from our lemonade. (Pause.) You are right! You cannot separate the sugar or the water from lemonade! That is just like God’s love! You cannot separate us from God’s love!” “Nothing at all can ever separate us from God’s love,” Romans 8:39. That’s right! Nothing can separate us from God’s love! Who loves you? God loves me!

What Your Do: Print out the Activity Page. Cut out or have your child cut out the pictures. As you
read the story have your child glue the picture in the appropriate spot on the verse page.

child).
During the Activity: Retell the story. Encourage children to decorate their frame with the markers.
