Dear Parish Families,
The start of a new school year has arrived. This week our children and youth will be heading off to school.
Some students will be returning to school, while others will be going for the very first time. The young peo- ple of our parishes attend many schools in our area while others will be attending colleges across the coun- try. Let’s pray for them that God would bless and protect them and this will be a great school year. I want to offer a special word of appreciation for all those who are dedicated to Catholic education and make St. Mi- chael School a great success. This includes our administration, teachers, staff, and parents. Since our school first opened its doors in 1855 we have helped to shape the minds of thousands of students who have passed through our doors.
This week parish meetings also resume. On Tuesday evening St. Peter will have its leadership meetings fol- lowed by St. Michael’s on Thursday evening. I am grateful to our parishioners that share their time and tal- ent by serving on the Pastoral and Finance Councils in our parishes. Our discussions help to shape our vi- sions and missions and ensure that we remain on solid financial footing.
Next Sunday we will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. It is al- ways celebrated on August 15th and this year it falls on a Sunday. We honor Mary because her “Yes” to God needs to be the same response we give to God as well. God bless you.
Fr. Vince
Prayer of the week: Almighty God, we give you our school. We give you all the teachers and staff who work here. We give you all the children who study here. We pray our school would be a place of great faith, strong Catholic identity, discovery, adventure and creativity. May it be a place where we love to learn and where we learn to love, a place where everyone is respected and all are deeply valued. We ask all this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are in need of at least 2 golf carts, ATV’s or UTV’s that have seating for at least 4 people for the labor day festival. These will be used by those who are responsi- ble for parking on labor day to transport guests from the new school to the festival area. The place we nor- mally get them from (Quality Golf Carts) does not have any at this time that they can lend us. So if you have one that we can use, please let me know ASAP. The parish insurance will cover the golf cart and liability is- sues that day after filling out a form that the parish will turn into the insurance company. Contact Cathy Knecht at 812-623-2878.

Jesus Commissions US!
After his Resurrection, Jesus told his disciples, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19- 20). We are Jesus’ disciples today.
Do you know someone who...has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic, was baptized Catholic but hasn’t celebrated Confirmation and Holy Communion, or might be waiting for a personal invitation from YOU to explore Catholicism?
St. Michael and St. Peter parishes offer an opportunity to come together to learn more about the Catholic faith. Weekly, Sun- day morning sessions begin on August 15. With the help of our team and print and video resources, participants will explore the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church. Time will be spent answering questions and discussing how what we’ve learned apples to our lives. This process will help prepare interested individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Con- firmation, and the Eucharist on November 21. No one will be pressured to join the Catholic Church.
Pick up a registration form at the church entrances. Please return the completed form to the parish office by August 12. For more information, please contact the parish office (765-647-5462) or Joan McKamey (513-374-1186) mckamey-
Please be aware off the following change to pick up of your mum order: You order will be available to be picked up at Wendel Farms (8134 State Line Rd., Brookville, IN 47012) on the dates and times listed on the order form.
