Padre’s Pen ~ Tractor Bless- ings and Synod Small Group Sessions

As I drive around, I see corn and beans beginning to turn color and dry. That means harvest is upon us and I will pull out my book of blessings and holy water for tractor blessings. Any tractors, combines, equipment that appear outside any of our three churches next weekend will be blessed after Mass (also, after Mass Friday morning at St.

Wenceslaus if the equipment is around for Dožínky Days). I am a full-service blesser; I will bless green, red, blue, prairie gold, whatever color your tractor happens to be.

I’m sure you have all heard that Archbishop Hebda has called for an Archdiocesan-wide Synod over Pentecost week- end in 2022. We had one of the initial large group meetings here at St. Wenceslaus back in 2019. We had to take a little break during COVID lockdowns and are now back on track.

The next step in the process for the Synod is small group sessions where the themes of the Synod are further refined.

Every parish in the Archdiocese is having small group ses- sions this fall as part of the on-going process and adult faith formation. Our sessions for St. Wenceslaus, St. John, and St. Scholastica start this month. We have 6 total sessions on the following dates: September 23 and 30, October 7, 14, and 28, and on November 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm each evening. The location will be the Parish Activities Center at St. Wenceslaus.

All are invited and highly encouraged to take part in these sessions. Each session is different. We encourage our parish- ioners to attend all (or as many sessions as your schedule allows). This is a great way to learn more about our faith and to have input in the pastoral plan that Archbishop Hebda is developing for our Archdiocese.

If you cannot make any of these sessions and still would like an opportunity to participate, our Faith Formation De- partment is working on a possible plan to accommodate.

Please contact Laura in Faith formation if you have ques- tions.

Let’s get out and support our Archbishop’s efforts!

(to pray anytime you are unable to physically participate in Communion)

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen

I am very excited to be joining the Faith Formation Team here at St. Wenceslaus and the community of New Prague. I am grateful to be able to take this opportunity to introduce myself a little bit to the community! I am Britt LaVigne, a mom of two and I have been working in the Archdiocese for about 5 years at a variety of parishes across the state. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, but have lived in Minne- sota for about 8 years now and I am so happy to call it home.

I love music, books and getting out into nature and playing outside with my kids. I feel very blessed to be working with the staff here and feeling very welcomed by the community and I look forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks.

SCHOOL NEWS from SWS

Dear Parishioners, Dear Parents, Grandparents, Friends of SWS,

We’re Back: Now What?

Join Dr. Julene Nolan – free webinar sessions each month exclusive for Catholic school parents. When: Sep 22, 2021, 7:00 pm

Parenting during the pandemic, conflict in our communities, going back to school, and the uncertainty that has plagued us over the last 18 months have made our jobs as parents even more difficult. Many of us are worried about how to move forward as we once again enter a school year that will likely be influenced by the pandem- ic. In this session we will bring it back to the basics of sound, practical parenting. What to attend to, what to let slide, how to protect our child’s mental health without

“snowplowing” away the experiences they need to be- come strong and resilient.

https://calendly.com/drjulesnolan/we-re-back-now-what Final Call for the free/reduced lunch application if you financially meet the qualifications. All lunch is free this year due to a grant from the USDA. We still need as many of the forms filled out as possible to get other financial supports.

"Be Still and Know that I am God" - Psalm 46:10

Kim Doyle, Principal Bl. Karl's Corner

Bl. Karl was the oldest son of Otto Franz and Maria Josefa, daughter of King George of Saxony (who was quite devout to the Sacred Heart). His mother, like her father, was a deeply devout woman, also with a special devotion to the Sacred Heart. This she passed down to her son. Unfortunately, his father was not known in the same way. Otto had a reputation for being on the wild side.

Sadly, marriage and fatherhood were not enough to keep him long from his wayward ways. As a result, Bl. Karl's parents did not enjoy a happy marriage.

As his father was a career military officer, the family moved often. Bl. Karl began receiving

private home instruction in earnest when he was seven, studying modern languages, history, the

classics, geography and religion. He enjoyed school and was a good student. Little did his teacher know he was, in fact, training Austria/

Hungary's future and final emperor.

Join us Wednesday's at 5:30 p.m. for our B. Karl Mass at St. John's. Latin rosary begins at 5:00 p.m. Latin materials are provided. For more information, email:
