IB Dress Code

IB students are the role models of the school, and as such are expected to dress in a smart and respectable manner at all times. This means that they must dress in a professional attire, which is defined as follows:

Clothing

• Students must wear smart, business-style collared shirt or blouse in a conservative colour.

Polo shirts are not allowed.

• Tailored trousers or shorts can be worn, or a knee-length dress or skirt. Shorts, dresses and skirts cannot be more than 5cm above the knee.

• Blazers and ties are optional.

• No denim or denim-look material, in any colour.

• No leather or leather-look clothing.

• No ripped clothing.

• No leggings.

• No sports clothes or hoodies.

Footwear

• Students can wear smart business-style shoes in any colour, or a smart sandal with an ankle strap.

• No trainers of any colour, flip-flops, Converse or Ugg boots are allowed.

Hair, make-up and accessories

• Students can wear make-up, including nail varnish, in a conservative colour.

• Hairstyles must be conservative. Hair can be dyed as long as it is natural colour.

• Stud and dangly earrings are allowed.

• Nose piercings and ear-cartilage piercings are allowed as long as the studs are small.

Eyebrow, lip and cheek piercings are not allowed.

• Visible tattoos are not allowed on any part of the body.

For further clarification, please see the additional guidance overleaf. Any student who does not follow the school dress code will lose the privilege of wearing their own clothes, and will be

required to wear school uniform, for a period defined by the IB coordinator. Suitable uniform items will be provided.

There is a designated teacher who will have the final say on whether an item of clothing is acceptable or not to wear for school. That teacher is Ms Williams.

Hair and Make-up

• Make-up, including nail varnish, in a conservative colour.

• Hairstyles must be conservative.

• Hair can be dyed as long as it is natural colour.

• Unnatural hair colour or radical hairstyles.

• No oversized scarves/

BOYS –

Allowed Not Allowed

In the summer, smart sandals can be worn as long as they have an ankle strap.

No flip-flops, trainers, converse or crocs are allowed, even if they are black.

Lower Body Students must wear smart, tailored trousers, such as suit trousers or chinos. In the summer, they can wear knee- length tailored shorts. Shorts cannot be more than 5cm above the knee.

No jeans can be worn in any colour, including black. Combat or sports trousers are not allowed. Brightly coloured or beach shorts are not allowed.

Ripped clothing is not allowed, nor is leather or leather-look clothing.

Upper Body Students must wear a smart business-style collared shirt in a conservative colour. Shirts must be buttoned up and tucked in.

Polo shirts are no allowed. Denim or denim-look shirts are not allowed, nor are shirts with bright patterns, such as lumberjack and Hawaiian shirts. No T-shirts of any kind are allowed.

Students can chose to wear a smart jumper, waistcoat or blazer.

Hoodies and fashion jumpers are not allowed. Anything with a large image, logo or text is not allowed.

GIRLS –

Allowed Not Allowed

Upper Body

Students must wear either a shirt or a smart blouse in a conservative colour.

The top must not be see-through unless a vest is worn underneath, and the bra must not be visible. Students are not allowed to have exposed shoulders, stomachs or backs.

Polo shirts are not allowed. Denim or denim-look shirts are not allowed, nor are shirts with bright patterns, such as lumberjack and Hawaiian shirts. No T- shirts of any kind are allowed.

Students can chose to wear a smart jumper, waistcoat or blazer.

Hoodies and fashion jumpers are not allowed. Anything with a large image, logo or text is not allowed.

Ties and bow-ties are optional.
