Online Databases

Finding Articles for Your Research

(6)

Let’s start a search for articles. On the homepage, under Article Databases, click on the word

Business…

(7)

…on the next screen, click on Business

Source Complete- EBSCOHost

(8)
(9)

Now you are in the database! You may search by keyword OR by using search terms found in the thesaurus. The THESAURUS option is the best way to search for articles on your topic. Using

“their” words helps you get the most relevant articles on your topics. Click on the word

Thesaurus at the top of the screen…

(10)

…and enter your

subject. Be certain to type your term in the box below the blue line. Click on the Browse button…

(11)

If you do not see any match, think of synonyms and try the search again or go to the top search box

and search by keyword. You will then get articles that contain your term.

…and click directly on the term that is the closest match to your subject.

(12)

On this next screen, check mark as many terms as you feel are relevant to your research. Note that I checked ACCOUNTING, ACCOUNTING POLICIES & BOOKKEEPING SERVICES.

(13)

Now, go to the top of the screen and click on the SEARCH button…

(14)

…and here it is! We have a LOT of results! To further narrow the results, look for the section titled REFINE

RESULTS. Check mark the option for Full Text, to limit to only the articles you can immediately read. You can also limit to scholarly articles and/or

(15)

After limiting to current (2009-2015) full text articles, there are 7200+ results available.

Note: this database updates daily!

(16)

To read the article, click on the full text link for the article. The full text opens and can be

printed, saved or emailed.

(17)

Finding E-books from IWU or a Local Library

E-BOOKS:

(18)

How can I access an E-book through IWU?

Click on: Ebrary or EBSCO eBooks.

Authenticate (like you did for articles).

(19)

Enter your topic to view a list of e-books that contain your term.

They will be sorted

with the most relevant listed first. To make the results more

relevant, the quotation marks were used

around the term. This is especially useful to keep 2 or more words together.

(20)

You have full access to the entire book!

Click on the TITLE of the book OR click on the Table of Contents button.

(21)

By creating an account, you can create your own “Bookshelf” of favorite books and can add notes and highlighting.
