1) Make a Copy of the Existing PMP SQL Database Files.

2) Upgrade PMP by running the installer on the “old” server

3) Install SQL 2005 or 2008 SQL server on the New Server

(you may also use the PMP 2010 installer and create a blank SQL

database)

IMPORTANT Note: USE Windows Authentication only. (PMP is not compatible

with SQL authentication)

If you use the PMP installer, you will need to rename the database files later in

the procedure.

Download the SQL Management Tool and install it on the NEW SQL server or

Print Server.

managing SQL Server 2005 Express

4) (RECOMMENDED) Enable the Named Pipes and TCP/IP protocols

using the SQL Configuration Manager

6) Copy printmanager.mdf and PrintManager_log.ldf files

Go to c:\program files\ Microsoft SQL server\MSSQL.1\data

Right Click copy both the printmanager.mdf and PrintManager_log.ldf files

7) NEW SERVER: Stop The SQL Services

8) Paste the database files from the old SQL server printmanager.mdf and

PrintManager_log.ldf files

Go to c:\program files\ Microsoft SQL server\MSSQL.1\data

9) Using SQL Management studio 2005 Express

Right click on Databases > Attach > add > navigate to Printmanager.mdf file

10) START SQL SERVICES:

Go to Services on the New Server. Right Click Start SQL (PMP) Service.

In the PMP 2010 Admin Console, change the database connection to

the new SQL Server under File menu> database connection
