The Frederick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) is pleased to share that 2014 extended the positive economic momentum for Frederick County, VA. The EDA and its economic development partners, worked with eight companies in 2014 to secure additional investments for the community. These announcements will result in the creation of more than $38 million in capital investment, 336 new jobs, and the retraining of 84 existing positions. Over the last decade, the EDA has facilitated $650 million in capital investment and more than 3,000 new jobs, placing Frederick County in the top 10% of all Virginia localities in regards to new jobs and capital investment.
Our community’s economic prosperity can be attributed, in-part, to the continued success of existing businesses like Barrett Machine, Creative Urethanes, HP Hood, M&H Plastics, Mercury Paper, Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Southeastern Container, and Talent Wise. These companies made signifi cant investments in Frederick County in 2014. In addition, Navy Federal Credit Union became the largest private-sector employer in Frederick County, surpassing 1,200 employees.
Consistent economic performance, recent third-party recognition, and a continued strategy focused on the success of existing businesses presents an optimistic picture moving forward. Recent community achievements include:
