Dynamic Data Centre (DDC) is TelecityGroup’s
Infrastructure-as-a-Service offering – one of the key
elements of cloud computing. Through DDC, we are
able to provide you with a dynamic, fully virtualised IT
infrastructure that you can scale up and down easily,
and only charge you for as much as you need.
Much more than just a virtualised server over the Internet,
DDC provides enterprise-class processing power, memory
resource, storage space and networking in TelecityGroup’s
highly-connected, state-of-the-art data centres, together
with private virtualised firewalls and load-balancers.
A comprehensive portal gives you the ability to carry out
key tasks such as monitoring resources and trends, along
with resizing and shutting down virtual machines.
DDC allows you to combine elements of physical and virtual
infrastructure to meet your specific requirements, with
Is Dynamic Data Centre for me?
Whether you want to run your entire IT infrastructure on
demand or prefer a hybrid environment incorporating colocated infrastructure, TelecityGroup’s DDC can meet your needs. Unlike a purely physical environment, DDC allows you to scale during peak times by giving you access to additional computing power whenever you need it. This means there is no need to over-provision hardware, therefore improving efficiency and reducing wasted resources.
You could be a retailer that needs to ramp up your ecommerce store at Christmas, a business planning a six-month TV advertising campaign, or a helpline expecting an increase in traffic during a strike. Perhaps your business depends on periodic, compute-intensive or ‘bursty’ server workloads, or your IT department needs to carry out extensive software development and testing. In all these cases, TelecityGroup’s DDC provides variable, consumption-based IT infrastructure that can be scaled to meet your requirements.
What technology does Dynamic Data Centre use?
We have built DDC using best-of-breed technology, including the industry-leading VMware vSphere virtualisation platform, HP C-Class blades, NetApp storage arrays and a very low-latency 10GbE switching fabric to deliver a premium enterprise-class service with full redundancy built-in from the ground up. Our proven Backup & Recovery service is directly integrated into the DDC to provide a secure and redundant managed data backup and restore service.
Security is a priority for any shared infrastructure and as you would expect from TelecityGroup, DDC is delivered in data centres certified to ISO27001 and PCI DSS. Importantly, DDC can provide you with your own private virtualised Check Point firewalls and Zeus load balancers – delivering the very best security, performance and scalability.
Why TelecityGroup?
As a data centre specialist, you can rely on us to effectively manage all the elements involved in Infrastructure-as-a-Service, including high-quality connectivity, security, built-in redundancy and managed service capabilities such as managed network security & load balancing. We use proven technology to deliver an enterprise-class service and can offer a range of complementary services to make your infrastructure work harder for you.
We back up our technology expertise with a 24x7x365 service desk staffed by on-hand support teams. They continually monitor the service, resolve issues, help with troubleshooting and assist you with all your requests. This ensures that you can rely on DDC to provide you with the enterprise-class service you need.

Key features
Flexible
We offer short contract terms for maximum flexibility. Adding additional IT resources is straightforward and you can cross-connect into the DDC from a colocation environment in any of TelecityGroup’s data centres.
Scalable and efficient
DDC is a highly cost-effective solution: with minimum outlay required, you only pay for what you need. Our dynamic virtual environment means that you are able to scale quickly and easily over your committed resource level, accessing additional virtualised IT resources temporarily to meet your increased demands. You can also increase your committed resource level at any time.
Comprehensive user portal
A customer web portal provides the main interface to the DDC virtual infrastructure. It allows you to start or suspend a Virtual Machine (VM), resize VM resources, view VM resource allocation and monitor trends in CPU, memory, disk and network usage. Enterprise-grade platform
As an infrastructure specialist, we use enterprise-grade equipment throughout. Everything is designed to be highly available, including the storage, server, power and network, with no single points of failure.
Secure
TelecityGroup takes security extremely seriously: all internal customer communications are protected by virtual firewalls providing perimeter security and multi-tier traffic segregation. Combined with the enhanced security features in VMware vSphere, this ensures customer isolation and peace of mind. Reliable
In addition to providing a highly secure environment, the VMware vSphere virtualisation platform is also designed to be extremely reliable. For example, the built in high-availability features ensure all VMs on a failed physical server migrate seamlessly onto spare physical resources.
Deployment options
There are three main deployment scenarios for DDC and related services, as follows:
