VIRTUAL AGREEMENT CONTRACT
Student/Parent Copy to Keep
The Virtual Program is considered an alternative educational program which gives a student the opportunity to recover credits and graduate from high school within a timely manner by using a team approach to learning-- one that commits each of us to ensuring his/her success!
• Attendance is required four days per week, Monday through Thursday. If a day is missed, the student must come to class on Friday morning to make-up the absence. There are no exceptions. The parent and student must call his/her instructor to inform her of the reason for the absence.
• It is mandatory that each student work outside the virtual classroom, either at-home or in the public library, five days per week. Through the APEX Learning system we monitor students’ work in/outside the
classroom. Infractions of this rule rank high as grounds for student dismissals. An adult within the home must agree to accept responsibility to make sure the student works daily on his/her virtual assignments outside the three and one-fourth hours of the classroom.
• Cheating is absolutely prohibited! Going to other internet sites while testing destroys the validity of the entire program. The consequences are severe: first offense, a grade of zero will be entered and the student must begin the lesson from the beginning; second offense, the student will be suspended; and third offense, the student will be removed from the Virtual Program.
• Entering the junior year does not necessarily guarantee you a spot in the senior year. At the end of the third year, a student/parent conference will be held to discuss the senior option. The fee cost is appropriated each year.
• No distractions are permitted during class time: game playing, music, talking, etc.
• Respect and courtesy is shown to everyone in your class at all times.
• Communication is key to the success of this Program. If a problem occurs, whether there is a problem understanding material, or a personal issue--make sure the instructor is informed. The parent will receive an email from APEX Learning every Friday, stating the student’s progress for that period.
• A second conference with the student’s assigned instructor is mandatory before final acceptance is
granted. This teacher will explain classroom procedures and expectations. All parties involved must agree that this placement is appropriate for the student to achieve success in his/her educational plan.
********************************************************************************* • If a student has not taken or has failed any areas of the OGT’s, he/she must attend morning class on
Friday’s during assigned weeks. This is not optional!
