1 INTRODUCTION
This user guide will cover the Traffic Limiting and Device Monitoring functions in Maingate Manager and will serve as a tool to get started.
1.1 LOGGING IN
Go to www.maingate.se and click on the link to Maingate Manager. Log in using the credentials sent to you by email.
1.2 CREATE A TRAFFIC LIMITING PROFILE
Click on the MCS tab:
A new page will open:
Fill in the following fields:
Name: Your name of the profile for identification
Description: A short description of the profile
IP Threshold and SMS Threshold:
Minimum: Minimum number of kB and number of SMS to avoid
alarm
Warning: Minimum number of kB and number of SMS to avoid
warning
Maximum: Maximum number of kB or SMS to avoid alarm or for
barring subscriptions that reach the level set by you Counting interval: The time interval in which the counting of values,
according to above will apply. Chose interval in the dropdown list
Bar at max: Mark this box if you want to bar the subscriptions that reach the Maximum level. If a subscription has been barred, you must manually unbar it by modifying the subscription in the subscription view.
Alarms:
Email recipients: The email address of the recipient of the alarm. If more
than one address is required, please separate the addresses with semi colon: ;
SNMP address: The IP address and port to which SNMP traps will be
sent. Leave blank if not in use.
1.3 VIEW TRAFFIC LIMITING PROFILES
Click on the MCS tab.
If you have created profiles, these will appear in a list on the page.
Click on the line for the profile you want to look at and the profile is viewed.
On this page you have the option to:
Modify: Make alterations on profiles
Delete: Will delete profiles that is not in use
View subscriptions: Will send you the subscription page and all subscriptions assigned to the traffic limit profile will be shown.
Test alarm: Give you the opportunity to test the alarm without using
1.4 ASSIGNING TRAFFIC LIMITING PROFILE/S TO SUBSCRIPTION/S
1.4.1 Adding separate subscription
Click “Search” in top right corner
Select identifier, e.g. phone number (MSISDN)
Fill in the subscription identifier
Click search
In the next page mark the subscription checkbox and select “Modify”
A new page will open:
Select Traffic Limit Profile in the drop down list
1.4.2 Adding several subscriptions
In order to add or change Traffic limit profile for several subscriptions, the most effective way is to use the search function and thereafter select the suitable subscriptions.
Click “Search” in the top right corner
Select “Detailed search” in the opened window
Select your criteria; then click “Search subscriptions”
In the page that opens, you will see all subscriptions which meet your
search criteria
Mark the subscriptions that are to be connected to traffic limitation or
chose to “Select all”
Click “Modify”
In the page that opens, select “Traffic Limit Profile” in the drop down list
1.5 CREATING REPORTS
Click the “Reports” tab
1.5.1 Subscription reports
Under “Overview” a number of pre-defined reports are shown. If this is
adequate, create a recepient and select frequency för the report.
To create a new report, click “Create new report”
A new page will open. Fill in your criterias and click “Create report”

1.5.2 Traffic reports
Click “Create new report”
Write a name for the report
Select “Send frequency”
Select the search criteria for the subscriptions you want to receive in the
report
When criterias have been defined, click “Create report”.
Important information:
It’s not possible to retreive a traffic report for subscriptions that are not assigned to a traffic limit profile.
1.6 CREATING RECIPIENTS FOR REPORTS
Recipients of reports are created either by clicking “Recipients” in the right column of the Overview page or by “Recipients” tab under Reports.
A report will be sent according to frequency to the chosen recipient. The report will be in csv format and contain the following information:
IP address MSISDN date hour volume IP traffic volume SMS.
All pages in Maingate Manager contain informative Help windows. In case of uncertainty, click Help to see if you find the information you are looking for.
2 DEVICE MONITORING
2.1 CREATE A MONITORING PROFILE
Select the monitoring tab and click on the “Create Profile” button.
A new page will open:
Fill in the following fields:
Name: Your name of the profile for identification
Description: A short description of the profile
Interval: The time interval in which the monitoring,
will apply. Chose interval in the dropdown list
Email recipients: The email address of the recipient of the report.
If more than one address is required, please separate the addresses with semi colon: ;
2.2 CREATING MONITORING REPORTS
Follow the steps from 1.5 to 2.0 but create a Monitoring report instead of a Traffic Limiting Profile.
Important information:
It’s not possible to retreive a monitoring report for subscriptions that are not assigned to an IP address.
2.3 ASSIGNING MONITORING PROFILE/S TO SUBSCRIPTION/S
Follow the steps 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 but assign the subscription/s to a Monitoring Profile instead of a Traffic Limiting Profile
2.4 VIEW OR MODIFY MONITORING PROFILES
Click on the MCS tab and then on the Monitoring tab.
If you have created profiles, these will appear in a list on the page.
Click on the line for the profile you want to look at or modify and the profile is viewed.
To modify: click on the link “Modify” on the right side of the page To view subscriptions assigned to the profile and report: click “View subscription” on the right side of the page.
