When You’re Ready to Complete your
Naropa Degree
Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you must be very close to completing
your degree at Naropa University! To make it easy, we’ve created a packet with
checklists, frequently asked questions and links to forms.
IMPORTANT
: The process to apply for your degree is handled by the Registrar’s Office.
There is a completely separate process for applying to participate in Commencement, the
spring ceremony for graduates. For information about participating in Commencement,
please visit the Student Affairs Office or Graduation and Commencement information
in MyNaropa. Note, Commencement takes place just once a year, at the end of the spring
term. Due to the limited number of students earning their degrees in the summer and fall,
Naropa does not offer a schoolwide graduation ceremony at the end of either of those terms.

Degree Completion FAQs
Where do I get the Degree Application form?
You can find it on MyNaropa, under the Student tab, Student Forms. You may also request it from Registration at registration@naropa.eduor 3035463500.
I go by a different name than my legal name. Can I have that printed on my diploma? Sorry, no. The diploma is an official document, therefore it can include only your legal name. You can opt to abbreviate your first and middle names, but not your last name. Can I have my title on my diploma? No. We only use legal names on the diploma without titles. What if my diploma never showed up? Or was lost? Or was eaten by my dog? What if I need a copy for a foreign visa?
Please contact registration@naropa.edu. Include your name and student ID number.
When will I get my diploma? Diplomas are not sent to students until the following steps are completed: · You have completed all the steps listed on the Degree Completion Checklist in this packet · All of your grades are in and are sufficient for you to earn your degree per your Degree Audit. · You have paid any outstanding tuition and/or fees · You have completed the Financial Aid exit interviews if you received aid while at Naropa. · You have returned all books borrowed from the Library and paid any fines · Your diploma is printed by our outside printer Once all of the above are complete, your diploma will be mailed to the address you specify on your Degree Application. Usually, diplomas are mailed 4 or 5 weeks after the endofsemester “Grades Due” date.
What should I do if I want my diploma sent elsewhere?
Please emailregistration@naropa.edu with your name, student ID number, and the address to which you want your diploma sent.
How will I get my deposit back?
Generally, a student’s deposit will have been applied earlier to their tuition bill to reduce the amount owed. If for some reason, your deposit has not already been used to reduce your tuition, it will be refunded and sent to the mailing address listed for you in MyNaropa. Please ensure that this address is uptodate for you for the 13 months after your last semester.
I already walked in "graduation." Doesn't that mean I "graduated?"
No you only participated in the Commencement Ceremony. This is not the same as completing your degree. You must complete all academic requirements of your program, earn sufficient credits with a high enough GPA to earn your degree from Naropa University.
degree is processed out of sequence, which takes more time and effort than if you were simply included in the group of pending degreeseekers who applied on time. The late fee serves as both a deterrent for you, and cost recovery for us. Please turn your forms in on time. I need help with some part of this process and my question wasn’t answered above. Who do I contact? For degree completion procedures, start with your advisor. Remember, if you have questions about the Commencement Ceremony, please contact Student Affairs. Our contact information:
