KNOWLEDGE

IS POWER

With the advent of GPS technology,

con-tractors had the ability to know the location

and service status of their machines. Now

the ZXLink Machine Monitoring System lets

them actually see the performance and

productivity of their machines.

Hitachi has partnered with QUALCOMM®

Incorporated to develop the most powerful equipment management solution available today. Information you need to manage your equipment from the convenience of your office.

LET THE REVOLUTION bEGIN

The ZXLink Machine Monitoring System is a wireless communications system designed to deliver location, utilization, performance, and maintenance data to contractors. By employing this state-of-the-art system, you’ll manage your equipment for optimal productivity and operating efficiency.

This innovative system is a combination of factory- or field-installed hardware and ZXLink Web Services. The hardware components are integrated into the machine’s electrical system to monitor machine location, functions, hours, fuel information, alerts, and other machine data. This information is then relayed by wireless connection to the Web applica-tion to be used to manage your fleet. Through a PC with Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.0 or better, you

can access this information to make management decisions 24/7.

THE ANATOMY OF

ZXLINK

The ZXLink System is comprised of a

communications controller, a data-logging

controller, a wiring harness, and an antenna

with both cellular and GPS functionality.

Through the system, you’ll have access to

this essential information:

FUEL CONSUMPTION

Fuel represents a machine’s #1 operating expense, and tracking gallons per hour affects profitability. Watching diesel consumption gives insight into fleet productivity and how hard operators are working each machine. ZXLink provides fuel data in several different formats, including consumption, load utilization, and more.

AN EYE ON UTILIZATION

To ensure you’re milking every drop of productivity out of the machines in your fleet, ZXLink provides machine-uptime data — the amount of time a machine is working at various load levels. It will also display utilization by function for specific machines. For example, you can see how much time an excavator spends traveling versus swinging. ZXLink also points out fleet machines that are underutilized.

INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY AND UPTIME WHILE

DECREASING OPERATING COSTS WITH ZXLINK:

n Reduce cost and increase revenue

n Monitor machine health

n Extend machine life through preventive maintenance

n Simplify maintenance scheduling and documentation

n Reduce downtime through caution or stop-alert notification

n Track rental fleet machines’ locations and engine hours

n Recover stolen machines with alerts and superior tracking

n Can be used to monitor both Hitachi and non-Hitachi machines

LOCATION AT A GLANCE

Running multiple machines in different locations? ZXLink establishes a geo-fence to keep tabs on when and where your machines are running. Or, not running. When you need to service the tractor, ZXLink makes it easy to find — and even provides driving directions.

MAINTENANCE PLANNING

Get maximum equipment life and uptime due to exacting preventative-maintenance scheduling and practices. ZXLink can manage your entire fleet, including sending reports of impending maintenance intervals while it provides a complete record of service history. And, ZXLink “remembers” the care each machine receives and delivers a documented history that can help sell a machine faster and with a higher resale value.

MACHINE ALERTS

Important information on how well a machine is performing in the field is always available. All yellow warnings and red stop-engine alerts are compiled in the Alert Log, along with a short description of each alert code. As an added precaution, the ZXLink system may alert users and your Hitachi dealer to potential machine- downtime scenarios. Stop-engine alerts are also communicated via e-mail, Web site, or cell phone.
