Biographical Summary

Bob Collins currently serves as Senior Lecturer and Executive in Residence, Management Department, College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Texas A&M University – Commerce. He served as Interim Head of the Computer Science and Information Systems Department in academic year 2007-08 and Interim Head of the Industrial Engineering and Technology Department in academic year 2006-07 where he organized the effort to achieve ABET accreditation for the Industrial Engineering program . His focus since joining the University from Industry in 1998 has been Entrepreneurship and Strategy and teaching the corresponding courses for the College of Business. He has served on various committees since joining the University’s faculty including Co -Chair of the University Strategic Planning Committee (2007-08) and Co-Chair of the University Strategic Plan Implementation Committee. (2008) He served as Chairman of the College of Busine ss and

Entrepreneurship’s Strategic Plan Committee (2005-2013) and served as a member of the College’s Curriculum Committee (2012-2013). Dr. Collins currently serves on the College’s Student and Alumni Committee. He led the effort to organize the first Small Business and Entrepreneurship Conference (SBECON) for the College. The initial conference was conducted in 2012 and has been successfully conducted in 2013 and 2014. 2015 will be the 4th annual SBECON to be held on campus.

Dr. Collins was previously a Corporate Vicepresident and Officer for E -Systems, Inc., a Fortune 500 Defense Electronics Company Headquartered in Dallas, where he was responsible for Corporate Strategic Planning, Domestic and International Marketing, Research & Development, and Government Relations. His organization included a 34 person legislative affairs office in Washington, D.C along with a number of regional and international marketing offices.

Following E-Systems acquisition by Raytheon Corporation (1996), Dr. Collins transitioned to a residency in London, U.K., where he led in the establishment of a new corporate subsidiary for Raytheon and the formulation and execution of a strategy for capturing a $1.3B contract with the British Ministry of Defence. He previously was instrumental in E-System’s efforts to utilize proprietary technology in creating two new businesses to address non - defense markets. These businesses capitalized on advanced image processing technology in medical and satellite imaging.

He currently serves as a Founding Member of the Collin County Community College District’s Board of Trustees where he has served since the beginning

of the college in 1985. Bob has served his community for many years most notably as City Councilman and Mayor Pro -tem of the City of Plano and currently as a member of the Farmersville Economic Development

Commission. In 2007 he was honored with Inside Collin County Business’ “21 for the 21st Century” award. He has previously served on the Engineering

Advisory Council for Texas A&M University Look College as well as the

External Advisory Council for the College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Texas A&M University-Commerce. He was a recipient of the 1994

Outstanding Engineering Alumni award by the Look College.
