Prayer Before Mass
Accept, O most Holy Trinity, this Holy Sacrifice of the Mass enacted once by the Divine Word, which is now renewed on this altar through the hands of your priest.
We unite ourselves to the intentions of Jesus Christ, Priest and Victim, that we may be consumed for Your glory and for the salvation of all people.
We intend through Jesus Christ, with Jesus Christ, in Jesus Christ, to adore Your eternal Majesty, to thank Your immense goodness, to satisfy Your offended justice, and to beg for Your mercy for the
Church, for our dear ones, and for ourselves here present. Amen.
Introductory Rites
FirstReading:IS55:1-11
When Thus says the LORD: All you who are thirsty, come to the water!
You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; come, without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk!
Why spend your money for what is not bread, your wages for what fails to satisfy? Heed me, and you shall eat well, you shall delight in rich fare. Come to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life. I will renew with you the everlasting covenant, the benefits assured to
David. As I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander of nations,
so shall you summon a nation you knew not, and nations that knew you not shall run to you, because of the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified you. Seek the LORD while he may be found,
call him while he is near.
Let the scoundrel forsake his way, and the wicked man his thoughts; let him turn to the LORD for mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving.

Greeting
Penitential Act
Priest: (Brethren) Brothers and Sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so
prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Lord have mercy, (Lordhavemercy)
You came to call sinners,
Christ have mercy, (Christhavemercy)
You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us:
Lord have mercy, (Lordhavemercy)
Gloria:
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise You, we bless You, we adore You, we glorify You, we give You thanks, for Your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; You are seated at the right hand of the Father, (have mercy), have mercy on us.
For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. As high as the heavens are above the earth so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts.
For just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down and do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; my word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.
TheWordoftheLord ThanksbetoGod.

springsofsalvation.
God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid.
My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior.
With joy you will draw water at the fountain of salvation . [R].
Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim his name; among the nations make known his deeds, proclaim how exalted is his name. [R].
Sing praise to the LORD for his glorious achievement;
let this be known throughout all the earth. Shout with exultation, O city of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel! [R]. SecondReading:1Jn5:1-9
Concerning Beloved:
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the Father loves also the one begotten by him. In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his
commandments.
For the love of God is this,
that we keep his commandments.
And his commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. Who indeed is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
This is the one who came through water and blood, Jesus Christ, not by water alone, but by water and blood.
The Spirit is the one who testifies, and the Spirit is truth. So there are three that testify, the Spirit, the water, and the blood,
and the three are of one accord. If we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is surely greater. Now the testimony of God is this, that he has testified on behalf of his Son.

GospelAcclamation:
Alleluia,Alleluia,Alleluia
John saw Jesus approaching him, and said: Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
All:Alleluia,Alleluia,Alleluia
Gospel: MK 1: 7-11
This is what John the Baptist proclaimed: “One mightier than I is coming after me.
I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals.
I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee
and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens,
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

O let all who thirst, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord: without money, without price. Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord?
And let all who seek, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing,
let them come to the Lord: without money, without strife. Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord?

Liturgy of the Eucharist
Profession of Faith
The
Nicene
Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the
Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, True God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salva-tion He came down from heaven,
(Bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pi-late, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seat-ed at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the
giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith.
O loving Mother, you know what we need and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee.
Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the
Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died.
Intercede also for those charged with
protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and
seeking a cure.
Help us, O Mother of the Divine Love, to
conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our suf-fering and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross to the glory of the
Resurrection. Amen.

One of the most ancient and enduring sites for baptism in Rome is the church of San Giovanni in Fonte. This church is in fact a baptistery, and houses the font for the Lateran Basilica, the cathedral of Rome. The Emperor Constantine sponsored its construction in the year 315, and it is therefore the oldest bap-tistery in the world. It is the model for nearly all later baptister-ies, including perhaps the font in your own parish church. —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Saint Ephrem 373AD wrote a beau ful hymn in which he connected the Bap sm of Jesus with the womb of
Mary and the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist: “See, fire
and spirit in the womb that bore you! See, fire and
spirit in the river where you were Bap zed! Fire and
spirit in our Bap sm; in the bread and the cup, fire
and Holy Spirit!” Christ, the light of the world, dwelt
first in the womb of the virgin-who was thus
“bap zed” by her son-and then in the womb of the Jordan; he emerged from both as the incarnate word, the savior of mankind. Those who are bap zed thus become the children of Mary and partakers of the
body, blood, soul, and divinity of her Son (Totus Tuus
(Totally Yours) Family and Catholic Home School, Retrieved 12/21/2020). The catechism teaches that Bap sm is a sacrament which cleanses original sin, makes us members of the community of God, the Church, and poten al ci -zens to heaven. The Church sees the Sacrament of Bap sm as the door of
faith “porta fidei” because it ushers its
recipients into the wealthy tradi ons and prac ces of the Church. The Greek
concept of ‘bapƟzein’ refers to plunging
or immersing of the candidate, so as to be washed by Jesus Christ from their spiritual corrup on. Bap sm through
the centuries passed through modifi
ca-ons, to accommodate cultures and atmospheric condi ons.
In the administra on of bap sm there are two basic parts involved; form and ma er; the form comprises of the rite or wordings as ordered by the liturgy. On other hand, the ma er comprises of the symbolic materials used to highlight meaning and deepen un-derstanding of the recipients. These are: water, white cloth, candles, and oils.
Water nourishes our bodies, cleanses our clothes, and we cook our food at home, but in this case water is used as in the Red Sea water that protected the Israelites and at the same me destroyed their ene-mies (the Egyp ans).
The white cloth either worn by the recipient or pro-vided by the priest symbolizes purity, joy, and the holiness God.
The paschal/small candles for the candidate they rep-resent the presence of Jesus Christ just as in the burnt offering of Abraham, in the burning bush of Moses, and in the burning furnace of Meshach, Abednego, Shadrack and the angel.
The oil of catechumen is applied on the chest of the candidate to protect him or her from the a ack of the devil. Therefore, it works like a breastplate worn by the ancient sol-dier going for a ba le. The oil of chrism is used to anoint the recipient to empower him or her into pro-phe c, kingly, and priestly roles that the grace of bap sm gives.
The Catholic Church in the West or the Roman rite s ll preserves the
seven sacraments: Bap sm, Confi
r-ma on, Eucharist, Reconcilia on, Anoin ng of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders. The sacraments of
Bap sm, Confirma on, and Eucharist are for ini
a-on into membership, gi of the Holy Spirit, and communion with God. While the sacraments of Rec-oncilia on and Anoin ng of the Sick are for physical and spiritual healing of the members of the commu-nity. The sacraments of Matrimony and Holy Orders are for service to our spouses and the people of God.
