1.0 Introduction
The cloud computing workshop aims to provide a platform for participants to get basic concept on cloud computing. The workshop will focus on understanding cloud computing, open issues and challenges, and how to improve the state of the art of cloud computing. During this workshop, the participants will learn on how to work with virtual machine and how to install a private cloud server on VirtualBox.
2.0 Objectives
There are five objectives to achieve in this workshop. There are:
1) To provide a basic concept on cloud computing and innovative ideas in
infrastructures and applications for cloud computing.
2) To give understanding on the technology behind cloud computing.
3) To discover what is the open issues and challenges in current cloud computing implementations.
4) To learn about how to work with virtual machine.
5) To give participants hands on experience on how to install a private cloud server on VirtualBox.
3.0 Date and Venue
The training took place on 6th and 7th June 2014 at MPK 5, Level 5, N28 Faculty of Computing. The lab for this workshop has been changed to the MPK 5 due to the availability of the staff on that weekend.
4.0 Speaker and Participants
The speaker of the workshop was Mr Muhammadfazel Anjomshoa, Master graduated from Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). His bachelor dissertation was entitled " The Characteristics and Introduction of Central Advanced Computing". His master dissertation was entitled " Efficient and Transparent Virtualization Mechanism
for volunteer Computing". His research interests include Cloud Computing, Grid Computing, Virtualization and Parallel computing.
There were 32 participants attended in this workshop. They were came from various research groups such as Pervasive Computing, Information Assurance and Security, Soft Computing and Software Engineering research groups. This workshop has received positive feedback from students.
