money will be paid directly to the University.

• The loan doesn’t need to be paid back until you’ve left University and are earning more than £21,000. • More information on repayments can be found at:

gov.uk/student-finance/repayments.

Payment by instalments

If you’re planning on paying the tuition fees yourself then there is a range of payment methods available, including setting up a Direct Debit to pay in instalments. More information can be found at: wlv.ac.uk/howtopay

The fees listed apply to the majority of courses, but can vary (eg. if you are studying on an NHS-funded course). To confirm the fees for your course, contact The Gateway:

What’s included in your tuition fee?

The University is committed to providing you with fees that do not contain hidden course costs so that you can make informed decisions about the costs of study. The tuition fee for all courses is paid for each year of study and may be subject to an annual inflationary increase.

The support is not means tested and is available for eligible full-time and part-time students although please note that students are required to make a £200 contribution to the cost of a computer – laptop or desktop. Students in financial hardship may be able to apply for help meeting this cost through the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund (see page 7). For more information on DSAs please visit:

Support while

you’re at

University

The Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund

The Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund was set up by the University of Wolverhampton following the withdrawal by the Government of the Access to Learning Fund.

Lord Bilston, the former Wolverhampton MP Dennis Turner, was a campaigner for social inclusion and justice. The new Fund has been named in his memory with the kind agreement of his family.

Through the Fund the University is showing its commitment to supporting students who find themselves in genuine financial hardship that might impact on their ability to continue on a course at the University.

For Home (UK) Students Only

Students can apply to the Fund if they:

• are in proven genuine financial hardship

• have taken up all statutory support that is available i.e.

Maintenance Loan/Tuition Fee Loan/NHS Bursary (for undergraduate students)

More information can be found at wlv.ac.uk/fund

Part-time jobs

A part-time job can help ease the journey through university and make a useful addition to your CV. What’s more, if you’re studying full-time it doesn’t affect your entitlement to government funding.

Our Careers and Enterprise Centre has its very own job shop, The Workplace, which can help you access a range of part-time jobs that are fairly paid and fit in around your studies.

To find out more, tel: 01902 323 400 or visit:

Thinking

about

part-time study?

* Only available to undergraduates who are studying at least 40 credits per year, for terms and conditions, visit: gov.uk/studentfinance

Part-time study allows you to take control of your time and investment, without sacrificing the things that are important to you. You don’t start paying back your loan until four years after the start of the course and only then if you’re earning more than £21,000.

With part-time study, you can:

• complete your degree from £2,725 pa (based on 2015/16 tuition fee rates of £908.33 per module) • benefit from no fees upfront by applying for

government funding* or pay in instalments and spread the cost of your tuition fee

• fit your studies around your work and home commitments

• enhance your employment prospects • continue to earn while you learn.

Part-time students are charged based on how many modules they study. Most part-time students study three modules per year (50% of full-time study) but it’s possible to study up to four modules per year on a part-time basis.
