Culture
Plant 4 to 6 inches deep
—
3 to 4 inches apart as soon asthe frost is out of the
ground and
until aboutJune
1st.The
more
attention one gives to cultivation, naturally the betterresults.
Work
and
fertilize the soil thoroughly.If stable
manure
is used, it should be spaded in in theFall previous to Spring planting.
Good
results are obtainedfrom
the use ofcommercial
fertilizer applied at the time ofplanting.
Unless the soil is very light
and
sandy, or the season isabnormally dry,
good
results should be forthcoming withoutwatering*. If watering is done, it should be in the evenings
only,
and
theground
should be thoroughly drenched.When

Winter Care
Gladiolus Bulbs
may
be dug'as soon as the foliage beginsto turn
brown,
of after a frost has stopped the growth. Cutthe stems off close to the bulb,
and
placethem where
theywill have plenty of air to dry, preferably in a shaded place.
When
thoroug'hly dry the old bulband
rootsmay
beremoved
easily. Store in a cool dry place
where
they will be safefrom
frost.
