Along the construct, commission and operate paths of project delivery UGL’s design engineers drive development of robust, practical and safer designs.

Our capability includes civil/structural, mechanical and electrical/instrumentation design. UGL performs all mechanical and electrical trades and the majority of commissioning and process proving activities. We develop control methodologies and undertake complex system integration works.

Across Australia, New Zealand, South

Unlike many others in the construction industry who are reliant on subcontractors, UGL delivers construction services using its own skilled and dedicated workforce, ensuring greater control and mitigation of client risks. Fabrication

UGL is ideally placed for fabrication

delivery utilising in-house workshop

capabilities and partnering with external

facilities to provide the optimal solution

for any situation. We can make use of our

established international supply chain

network to minimise both costs and

delivery time.

From several strategically placed sites around Australia, UGL provides a full range of fabrication, field welding qualification and quality control services. These are supported by established systems and expertise, allowing us to offer clients a full end-to-end solution, inclusive of design, detailing, fabrication, machining, site installation, and field services.

Facilities in Henderson (WA), Bassendean (WA), Ballarat (VIC), Newcastle (NSW), Gladstone, Mackay and Townsville (QLD) and Kolkata, India (as a partner in the UGL Texmaco joint venture), offer fabricated structural steelwork, piping, pipe spooling, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tankage, mechanical equipment and general industrial products in all materials.

Our facilities can fabricate structural steelwork, piping, pressure vessels, tanks, mechanical equipment and general industrial products in all materials. The workshops’ lifting requirements are serviced by overhead cranage and supported by a fleet of mobile cranes. The facilities supply both on-site and off-site end-to-end service.

The facilities provide clients with total flexibility to undertake a variety of manufacturing activities. UGL has the skills, expertise and equipment to cater for client’s manufacturing needs.

UGL’s portfolio of manufactured products

sets the benchmark in performance,

Our experience combines manufacturing,

integration, operations and support

capability giving us the ability to design

products to meet the most demanding

user requirements. We continually invest

in our manufacturing capabilities and

employ LEAN production methodologies

to reduce lead times, lower cost and

deliver consistently high quality.

Our manufacturing capability benefits from our highly experienced and long established engineering and assembly skills. From our leading production facility in Newcastle, New South Wales to Henderson, Western Australia, we deliver depth of capability across a range of sectors. During a forty-year period UGL’s manufacturing capability in rail has delivered over 600 high performance GE locomotives to resources and freight haulage clients; supplied over 1,000 double-deck passenger rail cars to RailCorp for use on the Sydney metropolitan transport network; and delivered in excess of 8,000 custom-built freight wagons to public and private enterprise. UGL has manufactured for major metropolitan networks a range of rail system products including Solid State Interlocking units, LED signals, signalling equipment and traction switchgear equipment.

Commissioning

Commissioning is a critical stage in the

life of any facility. A series of vital checks

prior to on-stream operation, thorough

commissioning services will mitigate

project risk and help achieve performance

goals right from the start.

The ultimate goal of new infrastructure is to operate as planned from ‘day one’. At UGL, it’s our job to prove the integrity of all systems, identifying and fine-tuning design and construction to achieve optimal results for our clients. UGL’s complete in-house commissioning capability is there to ensure these new assets and critical interfaces comply with the original design specification. The benefit for operators comes from UGL’s expanded knowledge and experience in addressing those issues rarely encountered during typical daily usage. Decommissioning

UGL delivers a range of end-of-life asset
