The MMI and MMI-R share a common base which has special provision for storing and protecting optical fiber. Both units can be wall-mounted on a US 1 or electrical box.

MMI — Multi Media Interface

The MMI and MMI-R are compact wall-mounted units for storing and protecting optical fiber. The internal storage spool easily holds 1.5 meters of up to 12 fibers with 900 micron buffers. Both units accept up to six USO II modules (refer to pages 47 and 48) and can be configured using a combination of fiber, UTP, STTM _{and coax adapters, placing all outlets in one centrally located unit. This makes MMI an ideal}

fiber-to-the-desk consolidation point for clustered furniture.

The MMI has a sturdy snap-on plastic cover and is available in three attractive colors: almond, white and light grey. The MMI-R is a rugged version of the MMI with a grey powder-coated steel cover that over-hangs and protects the lower module positions. The metal cover is attached with allen-type cap screws. Both units include the cover, base, cable ties and icon labels.

601 Fiber Series

The 601 Fiber series wall mount system interface products are compact units for optical fiber. The ST and Duplex SC versions have a capacity for up to either 6 or 8 ports.

The enclosures are made of white rugged plastic and while having a low profile, provide the proper internal fiber management to ensure the integrity of the optical network. There is also provision for a user-supplied seal for added security.

The 601 Fiber series is compatible for splicing and direct terminations. The splice holders accept up to 8 fusion splice protectors or mechanical splices.

Installing fiber-optic systems is quick, easy and cost-effective with ModLink. Because field termination is not required, there is no need for special termination tools and training. Simply plug in the cable and the link is operational. This is also an excellent solution for disaster recovery and fast-track installs.

• ModLink cables and cassettes are factory tested and shipped with complete optical test results for each unit

• Multi-fiber ribbon cable terminations put all fibers in one MTP®_connector

for easier cable management

• Rack or wall-mounted enclosures for multiple applications including premises backbones, consolidation points and OFTD

ModLink features compact 6- and 12-fiber 62.5/50µm MM or SM plenum-rated ribbon cables. The cables are factory-terminated on both ends with multi-fiber MTP®_{connectors and a built-in}

protective pulling eye. SM is angle-polished to reduce back reflection. MM is flat polished.

ModLink cassettes are self-contained fiber-optic patching enclosures. They convert the MTP®_{interface to}

an individual standard ST, SC, FC or MT-RJ coupler. Cassettes are available in 6, 12 and 24-fiber versions and can be rack or wall-mounted with the correct enclosure or bracket.

FMS Plus

FMS Plus is a series of configurable patching and/or splicing units that are available in seven styles. The FMS plus is shipped completely assembled including a configurable 6-Pak panel. All you need to do is mount the unit on a rack and snap in 6-Pak/Adapter Plates (refer to page 57) and splice trays (refer to page 59), each purchased separately. Using 6-Paks allows installation of multiple connector types within the same enclosure. Each 4U frame accepts 12 6-Paks. All units are available with either a Lexan®_{door or a steel door – each style is fully lockable.}

FMS II

FMS II is a fully-enclosed optical patch panel and integral cable management unit that is suitable for high-density applications or where a high level of security and protection is required. A clear Lexan®

cover protects the swing-away patch field in the front and a rugged graphite grey powder-coated steel enclosure protects the incoming cable at the rear. Each FMS II enclosure accepts 12 6-Paks (refer to page 57).

Where rear access is necessary, the back panel opens with two quarter-turn screws or the back cover can be lifted off by removing four corner screws. FMS II can be flush mounted or non-flush mounted, making it the most versatile fiber management product available. Includes rack-mounting screws, cable management rings, adjustable mounting ears, cable ties and labeling.

FMS IIS

FMS IIS is a ruggedized version of the FMS II and is also suitable for high-density applications or where a high level of security and protection is required. It provides all of the features of the FMS II plus a rugged steel front door in place of the Lexan door. Each FMS IIS enclosure accepts 12 6-Paks (refer to page 57). In addition, FMS IIS comes with keyed locks for the front and rear doors for added security. FMS IIS uses the same patch panel inserts as FMS II, providing up to 72 ports in only three 19" rack positions. Includes rack mounting screws, cable management rings, adjustable mounting ears, cable ties and labeling.

24-Port FMS Termination Drawer

The 24-Port FMS Termination Drawer is a 1U configurable rack mount unit for storing and terminating incoming fiber cable. The cabinet is made of rugged 16-gauge steel with a graphite grey powdercoat finish. The front of the drawer slides open to reveal a recessed configurable patch panel that accepts up to four 6-Paks or Adapter plates (refer to page 57). Behind the configurable panel is a fully-enclosed cable management area. The 24-Port FMS comes with a keyed lock to provide a compact secure termination drawer. Includes rack mounting screws, cable management ring, labeling and split tubing to protect incoming cable.

LI-24

The LI-24 is a configurable, wall-mounted, optical fiber interconnect unit. The unit accepts up to four 6-Pak plates (refer to page 57) that are available with high-quality singlemode or multimode adapters (sold separately). Each LI-24 comes complete with internal fiber management rings, cable ties and a unique patch cord organizer block that is invaluable for arranging the outgoing cables safely without strain or pressure. There is an optional clear patch cord protection shield and each fiber can be individu-ally labeled. The LI-24 is made of 16-gauge steel in graphite grey or champagne powdercoated finish.

WM-12

The WM-12 is a wall-mounted enclosure that accepts up to six single or three double Molex Premise Networks modules providing up to eighteen fiber ports in a minimum of space. This lockable 16-gauge steel unit is the recommended solution where a high level of security is required. The WM-12 is available in powdercoated grey or champagne finishes.

The inside of the WM-12 has an integral configurable panel that accepts USO II Modules (refer to pages 47 and 48). By loading the panel with triple-duplex SC or ST modules, the unit will accommo-date 18 fibers. Modules may be mixed fiber, UTP, STP and coax, making this the most versatile and compact wall mount enclosure for mixed media.

The back wall of the WM-12 has cable management clips for routing cable to the USO II modules. This design guarantees that all of the media will be protected and properly managed, with special attention paid to the minimum bend radius requirements of the optical fiber.

Molex Premise Networks recommends that all inside plant fiber have a 900µ buffer coating. This fiber may be terminated in the back of the patch panels and inside the WM-12 without the addition of breakout kits or the need for splicing. Remember: properly selected and installed passive fiber components are highly dependable and virtually maintenance-free.

Patch/Splice Demarc Cabinets

Molex Premise Networks Patching/Splicing Demarc cabinets provide a central point for interconnecting and/or splicing fiber optic cables. Each includes an integral panel that accepts 6-Pak/Adapter plates (refer to page 57) for field configuring the units for a variety of connector types including the most commonly used ST and SC connectors – the 36P holds six 6-Paks and the 72P holds twelve 6-Paks. When using the Demarc units for splicing, order the splice tray holder and Universal Splice Trays separately (refer to page 59). The cable management areas (left side) of each unit includes a keyed lock. If you require a lock on the right side (patch field), purchase an additional keyed lock kit. Doors are removable for easy installation of 6-Paks and Splice Trays.

Universal Splice Tray

Molex Premise Networks Universal Splice Tray is a unique configurable enclosure for both mechanical and fusion splices. Each tray includes two fusion splice sleeves and two mechanical splice sleeves. Loose tube cable is routed into and out of the tray through adjustable tube grips located at each corner. These grips eliminate the need for separate cable ties and, being adjustable, are easily tightened and loosened preventing over-compression of the loose tube cable.

Optical Fiber Breakout Kits

Molex Premise Networks Breakout Kits are used on multi-fibers-per-tube loose tube cables to modify the cable for direct termination. Each kit breaks out 250 µm fibers from a multifiber loose tube into individual 900 µm buffer tubes. Molex Premise Networks FLT4 Optical Loss Test Set is an easy to use and inexpensive solution for attenuation testing of multimode systems. The FLT4 test set consists of a dual wavelength optical power source and optical power meter in a rugged plastic carry case complete with ST adapter cap and operation manual. In addition, each optical source and optical power meter features rubber protective boots to prevent accidental damage or abuse to the units.

The FLT4 LED light source outputs are stabilized to ensure accurate test results. The source is battery operated and typically provides over 80 hours of battery life. The unit is easy to operate with only a wavelength selection switch and a power switch that illuminates when activated and flashes to indicate a low battery condition.

The optical power meter is fully N.I.S.T. traceable to ensure accurate test results. The unit has keys for power on/off, optical power (dBm) and loss (dB), set reference and wavelength selection. The power meter is battery operated and typically provides over 60 hours of battery life. The optical power meter even has an auto shutoff feature that activates after 5 minutes if none of the keys are used.

The set reference feature of the power meter allows the user to “zero out” the initial reading and eliminate any field calculations. After setting a reference, simply record the loss or power value for the component under test and then move onto the next test.

The FLT4 is an accurate and dependable loss tester and is recommended as the minimum requirement for testing multimode fiber optic systems.
