Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family:
This weekend we kick-off August and encounter a time when we’ll be starting school in ways we have never done before. No one seems to be particularly happy with how it is going whether we are parents, teachers, students or administrators. We want our kids and teachers to be safe and not get sick. We want kids to get a sense of routine and be back with their fellow students. We want them to learn and grow. Our sched-ules are messed up with work, school, e-learning. How can we work and supervise either e-learning or a part of the day that they are not at school. Unsupervised kids are a bigger challenge that can lead to greater problems. I would really encourage you to participate in our “One Storm, Many Boats,” next Sunday as we look at these challenges and share our fears, hopes, challeng-es and wisdom with each other. We will start live in church on Facebook live then go into small groups live all over our campus with Zoom rooms livestream. Then we will reconvene in church to hear each other’s wis-dom. It starts at 2 PM and goes until 3:30 PM. This weekend Kevin Riedl will appeal to us to raise money for the bricks he and his crew have installed around the pond behind the Adoration Chapel. Kevin has done a great job but needs a little over $3,000 to cover the cost of the project. This is an incredible Eagle Scout project that he has undertaken. We will have a place on GiveCentral to make a donation or text the word 'Brick' to 84321. Please support this endeavor. Have a Blessed Week! Father Paul

Registering for Mass
To attend a public mass, you must register as attendance is limited at this time and so that we have the ability to contact trace, if needed. There are three ways to register to attend a public mass:
1. Go to our website tcoha.org and click on Mass
Registration (large tab on the home page) and then select your desired mass. You will receive a confirmation that you are registered for a mass.
2. Download the Church Center app. Set up a log-in
and then register every member of your family. Then click on Events and select your desired mass. You will receive a confirmation of your registration.
3. If you don’t have access to the internet, call the
Parish Office at 815-385-5673.
You are now able to register up to an hour before the mass you want to attend. Please visit our Face-book page for videos to further help you register and for detailed safety procedures for mass attendance. If you have registered and are unable to attend, please inform Jennifer Marsh at [email protected] so another person may take your spot.
Join Bobby Sylvester from Empower Illinois Wednesday, August 5 via Zoom or in-person at 6:30 PM here at Holy Apostles and learn how help send a child to Montini! Empower Illinois is a 501(c)(3) that wants to change the way families choose schools for their children. Students only get one chance at a quality education, and financial constraints shouldn’t affect that. When you donate to Empower Illinois, you allow a child to receive a high-quality education that will prepare them for a successful future. They can’t do it without you. An individual or corporate donor will receive a 75% credit on their donation.

Spiritual Communion Prayer
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Holy Apostles understands the importance of growing in faith while staying safe at the same time. This year, an online option for your child will be available for those interested in doing so.Children are more likely to put into practice the faith they see lived out day!to!day at home. We offer a variety of faith-based programs for kids in K through 12th Grade beginning in September.

Childcare is available for children in preschool or younger. There will also be online classes on Wednesdays at 5 PM.
Classes are September through May 2, 2021. Register at tcoha.org, click on the Mass Registration tab and choose Family Faith Formation. Questions? Contact Arge at 815-388-0155 or [email protected]..

Love Your Neighbors: Give to St. Vincent
Difficult economic times often increase the stress within the home. As stresses increase, communities often see an increase in domestic violence. A mother of four recently left an abusive marriage so she could provide a safe home for her children and herself. Theresult-ing financial hardships of this move left her unable to pay her full rent or to provide enough food to feed her family. Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society delivered bags of
food, an Angelos gift certificate and provided direct pay-ment of part of her rent to her landlord. Vincentians were able to provide this family with a comprehensive list of other community resources who might further assist this family. SVdPS appreciates your donations of laundry detergent this month. "So always treat others as you would like them to treat you, that is the Law and the Prophets" Matthew 7:12
Food Distributions for Those in Need
Boxes of food are distributed every Wednesday, from 5 to 6 PM, here at Holy Apostles outside Sherry Center. These distributions have included meat, dairy and produce. In addition there will be a Northern Illinois Food Bank Truck food distribution tomorrow, August 3, at 4 PM.· Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until
all the food is distributed.
· This is a drive-up event to offer safe distancing. · Food is pre-packed in boxes and placed in your car. · Anyone in need of food is welcome.
If someone you know is struggling to get food on the table, please invite them to come and receive food.
Connect with Others
During this time of pandemic, each one of us has affected differently. This has been de-scribed by some as "One Storm, Many Boats." All of us have struggled in unique ways, but what is most important is that we all remain connected and share our struggles with one another. On Sunday, August 9, at 2 PM, Holy Apostles will host a Day of Reflection when you are invit-ed to join together with like-minded peers to discuss and share your experience. This
shared experience will be available both in-person and on Zoom...whichever you are more comfortable with. In the registration process you will be asked to identify with a group category that best fits what you are experiencing. On the day of reflection we will first meet in the church for an opening talk and then break into groups. Please plan on taking this opportunity to share and connect with your parish family.
Thank You Loren!
Loren Schiera, Holy Apostles Cemetery Manager for the past eleven years has

The Holy Apostles family and staff thank for your dedicated service to our parish and wish
you a healthy future of fishing, hunting and doing whatever makes you happy! We’ll miss you Loren!

Your support is a bless-ing to us, and all those 80+ families who were able to cel-ebrate their child’s reception of First Communion. May the Lord reward you with many blessings.
In Christ, Arge, Debbie & Adriana Hello Holy Apostles Family,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the pray-ers and support over the past three years! Talk about a whirlwind of emotion leading up to my Diaconate Ordina-tion. Reflecting back on the weeks and days leading up to Ordination, the Lord has prepared me in a real and amaz-ing way to fully and freely say yes to follow through with the promises I’ve made. In preparation for Ordination, I’ve had the opportunity to grow and mature here at Holy Apostles. I consider this place my home.
I’ve appreciated the opportunity to walk through my past and wrap up any “loose ends” before stepping into this new role in the Church. I make a point of apologizing to any Seminary brothers I may have offended, as well as thank brothers who have supported me in this journey. I’ve taken this opportunity to reflect upon my life. In doing so, I’ve reached out to teachers, family members, priests and others who have challenged me and helped make me into the man I am today.
The night before Ordination I was in the Cathedral pray-ing and readpray-ing through the Ordination worship guide. I asked Our Blessed Mother to give me strength to fulfill my promises to the Church. I have to admit, I felt a bit
stressed just like any bride or groom preparing for their wedding day. After I finished my bedtime prayers, Father Paul messaged me saying, “You are in God’s hands now… a great place to be.” That was exactly what I needed to hear, especially from a spiritual Father, brother, mentor, and friend. Over the past four years, Father Paul has taught me countless life lessons about leadership and parish life. However, the most important lesson Father Paul has taught me is “to show up and love the people.” I am truly blessed to have Father Paul and all of you, my Holy Apostles family, in my life.
Thank you again for your overwhelming support both virtually and in person. I cannot wait until next year when I will be able to celebrate my first Mass with you all!! Please continue to pray for me as I will always keep you and your families in my prayers!!
In Christ, Deacon Aaron
