ActionAidis an international anti-poverty agency working in over 50 countries, taking sides with poor people to end poverty together. ActionAid Myanmar’s approach is building capacity among youth and supporting them to work for the community for short and long term development for their own community. One of its main programs is participatory community development (includes livelihood, health, education, DRR etc.); through fellowship for young people to promote development in Myanmar. ActionAid Myanmar has been working in partnership with the local and national NGOs in different states and divisions.

Position Title : Training Coordinator-Governance (Global Platform) No. of Vacancies : One
Location : Yangon
Description of the Position: The Training Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing participatory trainings across the training portfolio of GP’s training and will be responsible for developing and implementing trainings, according to ActionAid Global Platform’s “6 Step” training development guide. The role will also coordinate a small team of trainers. The role requires skills and experiences in training, youth participation, mobilisation, governance and campaigning. Understanding and application of human rights and women rights is also required.
1. Key Responsibilities: A. Coordination:
Coaching, mentoring, supporting and line-managing other trainers to deliver high-quality trainings and activities and ensuring staff well-being and capacity building.
Working with other Training Coordinators and Manager to ensure smooth
coordination of Global Platform activities in-line with the ActionAid Myanmar (AAM) Country Strategy Paper 2012 – 2017, AAM Global Platform Strategy (2016 – 2017), annual training plans and monthly work plans.
Facilitating regular one-to-one meetings with individual staff and coordinating training cluster meetings.
Being a focal person for the GP team with the AAM Governance team to ensure good communication, joint plans and coordination.
Support coordination with other GPs around trainer exchange, regional trainers and planning.
B. Developing, implementing and evaluating trainings and youth hub activities: The role could cover, but not be limited to, the following activities:
Governance related courses including Youth Participation in Governance, Bottom Up Planning, Women’s Rights, Political Rights, Tax Justice, Advocacy Training, Human Rights Based Approach,
Tailored Made Trainings for partner organisations and networks.
Youth Hub Events such as forums, debates, human rights discussions.
Training of Trainers through supporting the development of ToT and Advanced ToTs.
Global Contact Courses where required on specific governance and political related topics.
Training consultation for Activista and AAM programmes when needed.
Networking and outreach to relevant partners, networks peers and resource persons including other Global Platforms as required.
Support with integrating GP trainings with AAM programs and projects.
Developing and testing new modules and manuals as required.
To continuously keep updated on the current situation in Myanmar and the external challenges that relates to our work at the Global Platform.
The Training Coordinator will work across the training portfolio of GP’s training and will be responsible for developing and implementing trainings, according to ActionAid “6 Step” training development guide.
Responsibilities – Training Coordinator 1. Decide (training
development and planning)
• Support GP manager in developing new ideas training programmes • Drafting Terms of Reference with training partners.
• Liaison with partner organizations • Planning of training programmes

Contextualization of Trainings
• Lead process of contextualization
• Lead contextualization activities, e.g. workshop, research • Partner Liaison
3. Training Design • Lead training design process, e.g. organize training design workshop, liaison with external experts
• Ensure training design meets needs of training requestor • Produce training manuals
4. Prepare for delivery of trainings
• Oversee and check training budgets
• Agree participant profile and recruitment strategy • Plan logistics
• Plan a trainer preparation programme and brief of guest speakers • Source additional support trainers and external resource persons
5. Deliver trainings • Act as lead facilitator, facilitating sessions and ensuring training quality and flow, talking account of feedback form participants
• Review training budget utilization
6. Evaluation • Design evaluation process and ensure fit with any partner M+E framework
• Organize evaluation and debriefing meeting with Training Quality Coordinator and other relevant staff
• Make evaluation reports to partners and AA Myanmar
• Coordinate data being entered into Podio and other M & E systems
C. Ensuring training principles are applied during facilitation:
All trainers at the Global Platform have a responsibility for training quality and are expected to implement trainings to high quality, ensuring that trainings are designed and implemented with regard to 6 core training principles:
• Participatory Training – practice peer-to-peer learning, and treat participants as equals who are an essential resource for the training and hold joint responsibility for their own learning
• Political Empowerment – facilitate poor and marginalized groups to analyze their own situation, create consciousness of unequal power structures and our role as citizens, and articulate a collective vision for the future
• Learning-by-doing – focus on practice during training by linking relevant knowledge with concrete experiences on the ground
• Public Action Learning – move beyond the traditional classroom teaching to create learning experiences for participants by performing concrete actions in public, applying the Act-Reflect-Apply learning cycle.
• Innovation, Creativity and Social Imagination – use innovative and creative techniques to push the minds of participants to consider alternative visions and ways of creating social change
• Relevant and Applicable – ensure trainings fit with the context of participants and add value to their organizations.
D. Contributing to ActionAid and the life of the Global Platform:
• Support with strategic development of GP including partnerships and with staff meetings and planning as required.
• Coordinate with ActionAid Myanmar teams and participate in ActionAid Myanmar staff events.
• Support with implementing the vision of Global Platform as a youth hub • Liaison and coordination with Activista Myanmar, ActionAid’s youth network
2. Expected Outputs:
Creating innovative and relevant trainings with high participant satisfaction
Contributing to the creation of an innovative social space at Global Platform, where youth can meet, discuss and organize activities and projects
Ensuring the financial sustainability of the trainings and activities
Ensuring that reporting requirements are followed and in-line with 6 step approach.
Contributing to a positive work environment, support colleagues and be a team player.
Ensuring other trainers are supported, motivated, learning and working effectively.
Ensuring evaluation and monitoring of activities is completed and used for planning and learning.

At least holds Bachelor's degree
Training experience Substantial training experience in an International Development organization. Able to lead trainings
