SYNOPSIS

French meteorology researcher Sophie, living in Antarctica, arrives in Helsinki to find her online lover Mia. Mia
had ended the relationship suddenly and with meeting her, Sophie hopes to regrow the love between them. As a
surprise Mia meets a young man at the MIa’s apartment. This man, Jusa reveals crushing news: Mia is dead.
Emotionally crushed Sophie wishes she had met Mia at least once and had experienced her life. Jusa promises
to take Sophie exploring Mia’s world. So begins a magical journey through nightly Helsinki city on which Sophie
sees different sides of her lost love and her city. She encounters peculiar people of Mia’s life and through this
realizes that the target of her love wasn’t exactly what she had imagined. Night Goes Long is inspired by a book
“Little Prince”. A serenade to Helsinki and city’s magical night. The film is result of a new kind of production
model - produced within 48 days and in cooperation with the audience.

Founded in 2014 by producer Mete Sasioglu and writer-distributor Miika J. Norvanto, Sons of Lumière wants to go back to the basics of cinema. Company’s inspiration comes from the curiosity of the filmmakers at the beginning of the history of cinema and a strong belief that this idea can also bring something new. The latest productions of the company are a feature film Salpa and crowdfunding-launched eurodance documentary Neverending Dream. Currently in development is The Grave Digger, a drama film by writer-director Khadar Ahmed.

CONCEPT: UNETON48 GOES LONG
"Uneton48 Goes Long" is based on the yearly Finnish short film contest ”Uneton48” established in 2008. The idea behind the contest is to give new talented filmmakers a chance to create their own vision by making a short film in 48 hour time period. Now Uneton48 wants to raise the bar even higher and create a new way of producing a full feature film in 48 days. With a new open-source kind of production and community filmmaking this new concept also gives the audience a chance to influence by taking part in designing the movie. For example, people can take part in editing the script, choosing locations or they can even send their own casting video. Night Goes Long is the first pilot production of
Uneton48 Goes Long. The purpose of this production is to test the possibility to create a feature film in 48 days. As a part of this pilot, Uneton48 launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to cover the expenses and continue

Night Goes Long is a film about the hardest, yet most essential skill a human being can learn: that of letting go. In order to be able to love sincerely, Sophie has to accept that love is subjective and to let go of the longing that comes with it. The film is inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic novel Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince), and the book's central themes - death, loneliness, and friendship - are at the center of the film's story.
No film is an island. A film grows from the world and exists within it, and in creating a film, we share an observation we have made of the said world with others. Thus, a films is also never only one person's work of art, but the sum of the experiences and deeds of the whole community around it. This project's unique approach to filmmaking has made it possible for the artistic team to work completely independent, and thanks to this, the end result honestly resembles the creative people behind it, allowing them to portray a one of a kind magical adventure through the night. Night Goes Long is the projection of the artistic team's collective view of the world as it is can only be right now, at this exact moment in time-space continuum.

48 Days LaterCan one make a feature film in 48 days? Many people were sceptic when production began, including me. Now, after 48 days we have reached the goal.. Using sport terms when talking about art is always suspicious, but now it fits. The making of this film has been like a marathon.
I believe that in madness lives a geniusness. Night Goes Long is mad man’s work but it had to be made. This is the only way of creating something new.. I believe this is the first professionally made feature film made for online distribution. Elisa Viihde deserves a thanks for braveness.
Night Goes Long is a pilot for a project called Uneton48 Goes Long. We have learned a lot during this period. I hope that more of these are made and whit different stories and filmmakers. There is always some kind of special magic on the first time and it has been an honor to be a part of this maiden voyage. Now it’s time for audience to decide if we made it. During that time we film makers are gonna have a well earned sleep.

9 The female lead role Sophie is played by Manuela Bosco. Known to the public by her work in tv series Nymphs (2012-2013 and Syke (2013), Manuela is also
experienced in many art forms like theater, painting and literature. Year 2015 has been a busy year for Manuela as her children book was published in the summer and her first art exhibition opened in September. Sophie in Night Goes Long is her first lead role in a feature film.
The male lead Jusa is played by musician & actor Elias Gould. His previous feature films Miss Farkku-Suomi (2012) and #LoveMilla (2014) made him known to the public but he also has a history in theatre. Singer-songwriter Elias had his first single come out in Spring 2015 with a major playtime in radio.

10 Graduated as a master of arts in
cinema, Vesa wants to be known as a lover or as the most handsome director in the Nordic countries. So it fits that in addition to his director’s vision, Vesa is famous as an expert at creating the atmosphere and working in collaboration.
Vesa has been a long time partner of the Uneton48 short film contest organizing team. Night Goes Long is his first feature film. Previously he has directed a documentary Somma Sommarum and a short film Psychosis Definitely in co-operation with our other director Henri.

In spite of his young age, the other half of our director team Henri has done a lot for the art of cinema. He has spent time in both sides of camera, as an actor and as a director. This busy director even has two IMDB profiles!
Henri’s history goes from theatre stages to film industry, and currently he is studying philosophy in the University of Turku. Henri’s career in Uneton48 begins with a production company Lentävä Lehmä Films and later he started to organize the contest with it’s creators Sami and Enni.
The producer Mete Sasioglu is a part-owner of a production company Sons of Lumière. Through his company he brings the much needed experience in indie filmmaking, production and distribution. Mete’s latest productions are a documentary Utelias iho (dir. Samuli Valkama) and a short comedy We Don’t Celebrate Christmas (dir. Khadar Ahmed).
