Description of site and clients: The ARF is a locked facility providing detoxification and assessment services to adults 18 and over who are experiencing withdrawal symptoms which require medical management. The ARF is a Marchman facility, accepting involuntary as well as voluntary clients. Individual, crisis, and group counseling are offered, as well as psychosocial assessments for all clients. Program provides a multi-disciplinary approach to early treatment of addiction, including extensive medical interventions as well as clinical interventions.

Operation Center Focus provides transitional housing, counseling, and case management to homeless male veterans. Veterans receive individual and group counseling for issues related to homelessness, mental health problems, and substance abuse. Clients may live at site for up to 18 months. Many of the veterans/clients in the program have PTSD and other significant mental health concerns. Motivational interviewing and CBT are primary treatment approaches.

Women's Residential Program in Brevard offers both residential treatment beds for women with substance use and co-occurring disorders and also housing with counseling for homeless female veterans and their children. Women in the residential program stay an average of 90 days. Homeless veterans with children may stay considerably longer as they are in transitional housing. Individual, group, and family counseling is provided. Parenting classes and case management are part of the VA program as well.

Many of the women have co-occurring disorders including PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders. Hours of operation: 24/7 but counseling is offered during weekdays primarily. Some weekends may be available.

Application procedure for site: Interns contact the on-site supervisor in the spring semester by email, nclarke@rollins with a letter of interest and resume. Upon review interns who are successful in the first round will be invited to campus for an individual and/or group interview. Interns should be prepared to respond to questions on interest in college counseling, personal counseling theory and some knowledge of Rollins College.

Special consideration or needs of site: Individual counseling with availability during normal hours of operation with some requirement for after-hours outreach presentations. Total number of onsite hours may exceed UCF internship requirement in order to secure adequate number of clinical hours for graduation.

Hours of operation: Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Description of site and clients: SCCD is a 34-bed residential treatment facility for men and women with substance use disorders/mental health diagnoses. Clients are typically in our program 45-90 days. We provide both group and individual counseling. There is also a family group for loved ones to attend on Wed evenings, and a family session is encouraged.

Application procedure for site: Please forward resume and 2 letters of recommendation to Erin Martin to be considered for internship at SCCD. Interviews typically scheduled 2-3 months in advance.

Special consideration or needs of site: Interns should be able to demonstrate both client-centered and more directive approaches. CBT/REBT/Motivational Interviewing helpful. Assertiveness a must.

Hours of operation: Interns work 8-4pm M-F with possible Wed 12-8pm.
