Notice is hereby given that a Petition to the Legislature for a private bill shall be presented, requesting that an Act be passed by the Legislative Assembly to provide for an amendment to The St. Thomas More College Act, 2001 to reflect the role of the St. Thomas more College Society and to make other incidental changes to the Act including amongst others: recognizing that the St. Thomas more College Society means the ecclesiastical entity constituted in accordance with the canon law of the Catholic Church; amending clause 5 to include as members of the corporation, amongst others, a representative of the St. Thomas more College Society, such other persons from time to time chosen by the St. Thomas more College Society, the chief financial officer and the director of mission and ministry; substituting clause 10(1)(j) to vest the corporation with full power and authority to use resolutions in lieu of meetings and further use electronic communications to conduct meetings; adding clause 10(3) to vest powers of the corporation in observance with the canon law of the Catholic Church; and adding clause 10(4) to provide for bylaws of the corporation.

The purpose of this Act is to continue St. Thomas more College as a corporation to operate a Catholic college that is federated with the University of Saskatchewan and is an academic community where students may obtain a liberal education in the arts and sciences or in any other useful branch of learning and to promote the study, practice and knowledge of those arts and sciences.
