6. Archetype Master Class Review

On Saturday the 28th of January, the ICS hosted a 3-hour morning “Archetype Master Class” in their training rooms in Mount St. Crescent, Dublin 2. Archetypes are the core element of an exciting new paradigm for recording and managing health information. The event proved to be very popular: all places were taken up by professionals working in the public and private health sector as well as representatives from academic institutions.

The session was opened with a brief introduction to the topic by Damon Berry from DIT. David Moner from the University of Valencia, a leading international expert on archetypes, then gave a three hour practical overview of the technology and how it can be used to solve problems associated with the management of health information in a shared care environment. The audience then engaged in a lively discussion on the topic, which resulted in the workshop being extended for an additional hour.
