MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A)Performing psychiatric assessment/evaluation of mental disorders among Palestine Refugees; (B) Prescribes medication to patients whenever needed; (C) Develops patient specific care plan and coordinates such actions with UNRWA’s health care staff and /or other staff from the referring department. (Education , RRSD) therein; (D) Support and supervise the PHC on the implementation of the mhGAP training; (E) Report to the senior mental health advisor with whom coordination and meetings will take place to ensure the harmony of the work in different areas; (D) Coordinates the referral system intra departmental as health, interdepartmental with Education and RSSD, and external referrals when exits in collaboration with the NGOs, international organizations, national organizations and /or other health care givers associations; (E) Assist in Developing and conducting campaigns, and activities to raise the awareness in the community regarding mental health, psychosocial well-being, optimum development of children and adolescents; (F) Assist in Developing and conducting training sessions for Medical Officers at UNRWA health centers that will enable them
to identify, assess, diagnose and treat common mental health diseases within the Primary Health Care setting. (G) Assist in Developing and conducting training sessions for Nurses and Midwives that will enable them to identify and assess the patients with mental health disorders and to follow up on their treatment plan; (H) Assist in Developing and conducting training sessions to give necessary knowledge for UNRWA’s relief and social services staff as well as school staff on Mental health wellbeing and acquiring preliminary skills with tools to assist in screening activities to identify potential refugees who might be suffering from mental health problems; (I) Advise caretakers of patients with mental health disorders and disabilities on the patients’ condition and treatments; (J) Coordinates work with contracted NGOs; (K) Prepares daily, monthly and yearly reports, and participates in studies, and/or surveys that might be done in the PHC setting on the mental health program. (L) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES ****(A) Academic and Professional****
(i) A University degree in medicine and psychiatry.
(ii) Valid certificate of equivalence of practice on the Lebanese territories. (Colloquium).
(iii) At least two years of experience in medical- clinical practice of psychiatry ****(B)**** ****Experience****
i) Previous work experience in mental health of Refugees. ****(C) Language****
Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic. ****(D) Skills and Competencies****
i) Ability to work under pressure.
ii) Excellent counseling skills and ability to work with female and male children, adolescents, adults and elderly.
iii) Being up-to-date with the Psychology and Psychiatry literature. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The incumbent will be working on a part time basis where s/he will cover 12 hours/week. Each incumbent should be willing to have a rotational schedule in the different clinics of the agency’s area that s/he will be assigned to.
Salary: As per relevant salary scale.
Contract Duration: Five months Extendable according to availability of funds, needs and performance.

In this regard, if a candidate has a close relative (mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter) who is already employed by the Agency, he/she can only be employed if the Agency is unable to find another suitable candidate.
UNRWA staff members with fixed term appointments may apply for any consultant/contractor consultancy while in service. Upon selection, a staff member may be offered the consultant/contractor contract upon resignation from fixed term appointments and a three month break-in-service.
Candidates who are no longer employed by the Agency must have a minimum of 3 months break-in-service, before they apply to any consultant/contract positions.
