SafetyWorks! Classes for Fall 2009
Course Level = 1. For attendees new to safety and health 2. Working knowledge of OSHA standards needed 3. For managers or supervisors
i
OSHA Recordkeeping - This class provides a thorough and compre-hensive SIX-HOUR training for both new and experienced safety and human resource personnel. You will learn the OSHA rule (29 CFR 1904) regarding recording and reporting work-related inju-ries and illnesses as it applies to your organization. This class includes numerous hands-on activities on how to correctly fill out the required injury reporting forms such as the 300, 300A, and 301. Class participation is highly encouraged.
Trenching and Excavation - You will learn about the dangers to work-ers, soil classifications, the OSHA requirements for excavation safety, and protective systems used to avoid cave-ins. You will also learn what OSHA means by “competent person”. This eight-hour class will include a demonstration of the proper use/installation of a trench box.
Attendees must wear the appropriate PPE for this class.
Scaffolding and Fall Protection - Falls and falls from scaffolding are the leading cause of serious injuries and death for construction workers. In this class you will learn the types of scaffolding and how to set them up the correct way. You will also learn how to protect work-ers from falls and when workwork-ers must use fall protection. The instructor will explain the OSHA requirements for scaffolding and fall protec-tion. Attendees must wear the appropriate PPE to class.
Confined Space Entry - A confined space has limited or restrictive means of egress, large enough to get into, and not designed for continu-ous occupancy. Learn what makes a confined space "permit required" and how to use monitoring equipment to protect your co-workers.
Combustible Dust, Silica and Lead Safety Training - This class
covers the health hazards of combustible dust, silica and lead in the workplace and how to protect workers from overexposure.
Workplace Violence Protection - Domestic violence doesn’t stay at home when an employee reports to work. Intimate partner abuse can raise the risk of violence in the workplace and endanger work-ers. This workshop shows how employers can reduce the risk by developing a comprehensive workplace response. Topics include supporting the abused employee, writing effective human resource policy, and creating security protocols.
Forklift Operator Training - This half-day course is designed for new operators. The training will involve formal classroom training,a written quiz and a hands-on operating exercise. This training does not meet the requirements to qualify the participants to be a “qualified opera-tor.” Only the employer can provide such certification.
