A model of success
The story of OVH.com is intertwined
with that of a Polish family arriving in
France in 1991. Henryk and Haline
Klaba, both engineers from the
Warsaw University of Technology, had
little money, but plenty of drive.
A few years later in 1999, their two
sons Octave and Miroslaw began
their engineering studies in France. By
then, the Internet was booming and
Octave, the older of the two, decided
to put his undeniable computer skills
to good use. He recognized the roaring
demand for hosting services and
founded OVH.com.
Through innovation, and with the
support of his family, OVH.com
rapidly took off. With the collective
knowledge of each member of the
tribe, the growth of the company
was immediate. In order to keep
up with the enterprise’s expansion,
the Klaba family acquired a large
property in Northern France. The
land now extends over four acres and
still houses OVH’s corporate offices,
along with its first data centers. The
company quickly grew and its profits
were immediately reinvested into its
activities.
■
A galaxy of services
OVH.com offers a diverse selection of services for web hosting and overall Internet presence. The distinguishing feature of the company is that we have control over every step of the product’s life-cycle: we design and manufacture our own servers, we manage and maintain our data centers, we follow up with each client… OVH is also backed by an impressive network of partners who work closely with the users and help them through all of their IT projects (installation, configuration, security, maintenance, training, etc.).
In early 2014, OVH.com launched new lines of dedicated servers, divided in two brands: “So you Start” and “Kimsufi”. We also redesigned our original brand. This reorganization was prompted by a desire to distinctly address each type of user.

Vast and Reliable Network
With such a grasp of the international market, OVH.com has built an infrastructure that can flawlessly provide first-class services to its customers no matter where they are in the world. Having deployed our own optic fiber network gives OVH.com a unique advantage on the hosting provider market by allowing for a bandwidth of 3,000 Gbps in Europe and, in due time, 8,000 Gbps in North America. OVH.com can proudly offer all of this while connecting more than 33 peering points over three continents and keeping 24/7/365 operational maintenance.
Having traffic-exchange arrangements with other Internet service providers (ISPs) around the world with multiple exchange points allows OVH.com to instantly transfer our traffic onto a partner’s infrastructure in the event of a technical incident or traffic congestion. Our peering policy gives the Internet hosting company the possibility to connect directly with its customers’ Internet service providers, resulting in low latency when accessing content hosted within OVH.com’s infrastructure.
For added security, the company also built a fully redundant global network with multiple security loops, eliminating the risk of potential malfunction.

Cutting-Edge Technology
Innovation is part of OVH.com’s very DNA. The company maintains its focus on technology that will optimize each service they are developing and lead it to offer the latest products available to its customers, for example by installing the most powerful processors in its servers.
OVH.com maintains complete control over the products’ life-cycle: from the assembly of our own servers to the design and maintenance of data centers around the world. This allows OVH.com to provide seamless customer service and dedicated server solutions that combine flexibility with total control at a competitive price.

Green Solutions
Constant R&D efforts have considerably lessened OVH.com’s environmental impact over the years. In 2004, OVH.com created and developed an exclusive liquid cooling system for its servers. By dissipating 70% of the heat produced by the processors, this technique made it possible for the Internet hosting company to cut its energy costs in half. A smaller amount of air conditioning, or even a simple ventilation system, is therefore enough to expel the remaining 30% of the heat.
Continuous efforts to reduce the energy consumption of our data centers keep paying off. OVH.com facilities have a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratio between 1 and 1.2. Simply put, for a 100-watt server to work, OVH.com uses between 100 and 120 watts, thus using half the energy of the average datacenter. Lower energy consumption reflects positively not only on the environment, but also on prices. Indeed, a smaller carbon footprint means lower costs and better rates for customers.
The company’s dedication to environmentally friendly practices does not stop there. OVH.com has continued to improve the air conditioning systems used to cool its server rooms to the extent that, in 2011, we completely abolished air conditioning in RBX 4. In this next-generation data center, air conditioning has been replaced by a green and innovative ventilation system, the result of many years of research and development. Its performance is optimal, and its environmental impact very limited. The BHS datacenter, built in 2011 in Canada, was designed with the same technology but on a greater scale, and represents the quintessence of all these years of research.
■
Autonomous Development
A family business, the company remains independently owned, and has developed without bank loans, financing, or government assistance. It chooses to reinvest all of its profits in order to grow faster while offering lower cost solutions than its competitors. Still operating on the same family principles from which it was built from the ground up, OVH.com offers an unsurpassed standard for conducting business, as well as an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.

haring photos, video, documents, and music: The amount of files we create and store is growing exponentially. With its attractive offers, hubiC was conceived for a wide audience looking to resolve two issues: backup (manage data online safe from hard disk failures, thefts, or hardware loss) and mobility (immediate access to all the information from any device using synchronization features). Everything within one centralized and solid storage space, two features thatphysical media can’t provide when dealing with large volumes of data.
In addition, hubiC commits to provide maximum security and confidentiality. Each file stored is replicated in three different OVH data centers located in Europe (RBX, GRA, and SBG).
Third parties can’t access stored files unless the user decides to share them by means of a share link.
With hubiC, you can back up your data to

Virtual Private Servers (VPS)
VPS are an intermediary between web hosting and autonomous management of a server, and offer the perfect compromise between the freedom offered by dedicated servers and the flexibility of virtualization. Supported by OVH.com’s internal dedicated Cloud infrastructure, the VPS work on a dynamic platform that can adjust to a rise in demand and, thanks to virtualisation, each platform is completely isolated from one another. More importantly, the environment is entirely administered by the client, who has access to a wide range of operating systems and pre-installed web applications that they can use and manage at their own will.
Whether physical, virtual, or hybrid, dedicated
infrastructures are the most reliable tools for
our clients’ data and applications.
Ready to use within seconds and infinitely
combinable, these servers and/or Cloud
resources are hosted in data centers managed

eDicateDserversAs soon as the traffic on a website becomes too significant, switching from web hosting to a dedicated server (one server for a site) is essential. The customer can then work on a platform that can support their growth, with the right tools. OVH.com’s wide range of products meets the needs of the most demanding companies and the most critical individuals. Clients across the globe are swayed by the ease with which OVH’s dedicated servers are deployed, our follow-up options and our many dedicated server related services (fail-over IP, load balancing, FTP backup, etc.). louDAccess to a complete data center within minutes? With OVH.com’s Dedicated Cloud offer, it is possible. From our personal vSphere or vCloud from VMware client interface, professionals can build their own virtualized infrastructure quite easily. As the name suggests, every single component of a Dedicated Cloud is exclusive to its user, from the RAM and the CPU to the storage disks and the network. It is therefore an ideal solution for businesses whose datacenter is full; they do not have to wait months to build new hosting rooms and can focus on what is truly important, their added value.

etwork(cDn)
This service greatly reduces the delay time between a user’s action and their access to a website’s content. The CDN uses OVH.com’s network to cache content in 20 points of presence around the world, so when a user wants to access a client’s content, the Internet will look for the closest CDN point to get the shortest delay time. The client decides which pages will be cached on the CDN and for how long, because they are the manager of their configuration. Other advantages include lower loading time and better references on search engines, which are sensitive to better latency.
■
Big Data
Nowadays, companies have to deal with very large quantities of information, and traditional databases become inadequate to store and manage such flow. The Big Data solution by OVH.com can tackle these new challenges and offer real time analysis of the client’s business, a study of transaction data, a follow-up on the client’s e-reputation, tools against fraud… These offers are built on clusters of pre-installed servers that are optimized and equipped with the necessary tools to provide a turnkey infrastructure ready to collect and analyze a large quantity of data.
■
High Performance Computing (HPC)
High Performance Computing is used to solve complex problems in record time and is therefore essential in many fields, such as science, engineering, medicine, cinema and more. For instance, it can make a model of the behavior of an engine in a car or of a protein in a drug. Such solutions are usually difficult to deploy because the infrastructures needed require the right amount of space, high level of material resources, a large power capacity, as well as acute technical knowledge. However, OVH’s HPC offers democratise supercomputing by delivering turnkey HPC platforms.

Press Release
Six years ago, OVH.com became the first hosting provider to supply dedicated servers connected to a 10 Gbps network in Europe. The company is still a pioneer today, as it now offers the first servers with a 40 Gbps connection all over the world. Available on the “Big Data” and “Storage” lines, the 40 Gbps connection fastens data exchanges between servers through the vRack, a private network.
The 10 Gbps connection remains a standard on our public network, designed for exchanges between the servers and the Internet. However, over the course of the past three years, needs have evolved, so the clients do not only manage one or two servers for a website, but they administer entire infrastructures of servers synched together. With the vRack, OVH.com offers a large private network allowing connectivity between dedicated servers and the Dedicated Cloud. The hosting provider stands out on the market by extending the vRack to its 15 datacenters, including across North America and Europe.
OVH.com customers have put in place Hadoop and OpenStack Swift clusters with data volumes that can go over 100 Pb and are often configured across multiple datacenters. The need for 40 Gbps comes into play at this point. These horizontal networks across datacenters are forced to work on a smart combination of the 40 and 100 Gbps connections, depending on the delay time that separates the servers. One of the first customers to use the servers on the 40 Gbps connection is hubiC, the Cloud storage service of OVH.com. In fact, the hosting provider built the Storage line servers based on its OpenStack Swift experience. Each FS-144T server managed by hubiC is, therefore, connected on the 10 Gbps public network and the 40 Gbps vRack. In the case of a substitution of a defective hard drive, the 40 Gbps connection divides by 11 the synchronization time of the data on the servers.

MONTREAL, CANADA - MAY 5
TH, 2014 – The third worldwide Internet hosting provider, and leader
in Europe*, OVH.com now offers dedicated servers with a 40 Gbps connection, a first on the worldwide
market. This innovation leads to an evolution of datacenters’ networks, which are now equipped
for 40 and 100 Gbps connections.
Press Release

With 1 to 16 gig of RAM and 1 to 8 vCores per CPU depending on the line, the 2014 VPS offer unmatched possibilities for personal and professional usage, such as hosting business applications, install a development platform or a VPN, try your hand at e-commerce, start
a webzine, etc. Moreover, it upgrades in a few clicks and seamlessly, as all configurations
and data remain the same and the service is maintained throughout. Guaranteed bandwidth of 100 Mbps
The VPS are connected to OVH.com’s worldwide optic fiber network of 3 Tbps capacity.
OVH.com is, therefore, able to guarantee a bandwidth of 100 Mbps for up to 10,000 gig of transferred data per month for its two types of offer: VPS Classic and VPS Cloud. This amount of data is largely above the usage of more than 99% of OVH.com’s clients, so a
site hosted on a VPS can smoothly absorb high-volume traffic. The accelerated software
loading time also provides better work conditions. High availability
Each 2014 VPS have storage disks configured in RAID 10, which provides perfect data
security. Moreover, the VPS Cloud line built on VMware technology displays a SLA and
availability of 99.99%. Designed to fit in a complex architecture, VPS Cloud is compatible
to the IP load-balancing offer that allows a distribution of the load between different machines, which increases resistance to failures.
More than 15 ways to work at your disposition
The 2014 VPS have over 15 work environments to choose from and they are easy to install with no extra charge. The options range from different default operating systems (CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian), a variety of CMS and turnkey e-commerce solutions (Wordpress, Prestashop), and the control panels to host multiple sites (CPanel and Parallels Plesk Panel (the latter includes a 10 domains license). The VPS also gives you access to complete development environments to host all kinds of applications: LAMP, Ruby and soon Pyhton and Node JS. Finally, with VPS Cloud, the Windows license is included with your machine. Enhanced features
All VPS are protected by OVH.com’s anti-DDoS service and can be hosted in any of the 3 data centers in North America and Europe. A client can therefore locate its servers closer to its customer base. The VPS Cloud take things further by adding optional backup solutions and up to 16 geo-located IP.
Customer area and API
The VPS line is the first OVH.com product entirely available in the new customer area and
managed through Restful, OVH.com’s API. All functions are easy to operate and extremely safe. In this dynamic and ultra-competitive sector of activity, OVH.com promises to shake up the market.
