Director of Project Operations

If you are passionate about creating great architecture in fresh, bold ways, adept at leading teams of talented creatives, and would thrive in the midst of beautiful surroundings, we have an outstanding career opportunity for you.

As Director of Project Operations, you’ll join the leadership team of Kelly &

Stone Architects (KS|a), a growing residential architecture firm that specializes in designing extraordinary custom homes from concept through construction.

When you sign on with KS|a, you’ll work directly with the co-founders to help chart a course for our future—and then serve as a sherpa on that journey. Your ambition will shape the upward potential of this role.

Why This Position is Available

With the growth of our practice, we recognize the importance of proactively managing that expansion through an infusion of leadership talent. The Director of Project Operations (OpsDir) is a new but critical role, enabling co-founders Keith Kelly and Tim Stone to continue focusing on design leadership and building client relationships.

About Our Firm

Over the last 15 years, we’ve designed an impressive portfolio of award-winning projects for satisfied clients. They entrust us to bring their dream homes to life in scenic mountain and coastal settings across California, Colorado, Hawaii, Canada, and beyond.

About Truckee, California

Since the mid 1800s, Truckee has served as a major gateway to the west— attracting pioneering spirits who built an authentic mountain town. On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe’s scenic mountain beauty is enhanced by the clean air, a sense of freedom, and access to nearly every winter or summer sport imaginable. There’s also a hardworking entrepreneurial spirit and tech scene that is collaborative and connected, with unity in finding solutions for the challenges of today—believing in community and common good while leading fulfilling lives.

Based in our Truckee CA studio, this position will involve close collaboration with colleagues in that location and in our other studio in Steamboat

Springs CO. You’ll manage projects, mentor colleagues, and maintain client relationships while being continually inspired by the majestic beauty of North Lake Tahoe.

One thing you won’t have to manage is runaway egos. We’re a laid back, down-to-earth group that’s more interested in designing distinctive spaces for our clients than in personal posturing. Our open plan studio encourages continuous learning through collaboration.

And outside the office, you’ll have plenty of recreational options—whether you’re a fan of mountain biking, skiing, hiking, golf, or just soaking up the
